CHRISTMAS MAFIA!

Hello, and welcome to our little game! Sorry, no awesome picture yet. However, here's some yummy flavor text...

'Twas not the night before Christmas,
since mafia games are quite long
and the elves were all busy
thinking of lyrics for this song.

Right in the North Pole, the elves made some toys
for all the nice little girls and the nice little boys.
Outside the workshop, there was snow everywhere
but an evil stranger was lurking - he had cold colored hair.

It was Dr. Luke Warm, from Happy Ice Cream Land!
Last time, Bouapha had foiled his plans
to take over to land with Ice Cream Zombies;
His, plan, oh his plan, his plan it really bombied.

Dr. Luke Warm had now a different plot,
he would take over Christmas and take the whole lot
of toys, games, and presents that Santa would need,
the evil man's heart was filled with much greed.

But Saint Nick was aware of this strange little dude
since stealing the presents was really quite rude!
He warned his workers to protect the toys
from the doctor, who would surely ruin their joy.

Luke was furious - he couldn't steal the toys
that would be for the nice little girls and the boys.
However, he suddenly had a twisted scheme
that was much better than the zombies that stole the ice cream.

"If I can't steal the presents," said Luke, "I'll just get rid
of the people protecting those gifts for those kids!"
He hired some henchmen, the best he could find,
and he was sure he could do it - he was a mastermind.

But good old Saint Nick was aware of this, and
he quickly told the workers of Dr. Luke's plan.
"We must look for these criminals behind this goal
and punish them with lots and lots of coal.

These villians are hiding, but they can't hide forever,
and I know we can find them, if we're just enough clever."
And now, my good reader, will Christmas be saved?
Will Santa's big white beard have to be shaved?

Will the mafia steal all the gifts and the presents?
Or will this Christmas actually be pleasant?
Will we get toys this year? Will my eggs be fried?
That, my good reader, is up for YOU to decide.

Ok, I would like to state my role first off: I am the Grabby Gnome. I can steal stuff from people, which sometimes gives away their roles. For my night PM, I chose to steal from Sloth. This is what I got back from PK:


You sneak into Sloth's kitchen. In the freezer, there are three snowballs and two sticks marked "spare body parts". Odd.


I dont know if this makes him a mafia or not, but it certainly seems suspicious.

Oh, and I know that these 'He is lying! He wants us to think that he isnt the mafia!' and 'He said he knows that we will say that he is the mafia, making us think that he thinks that we think that he isnt a mafia!' messages will come up, and I realize that there is nothing I can do about it. Go ahead, post all your speculative messages, I usually get lynched early on anyways. Even if you vote me off, however, please take my advice, as by posting this I am risking my life.

Anywho, I will post again once it is day, prolly to vote off Sloth, if no one else seems suspicious.

I would second that, and as a matter of fact, the mafia rules linked to in the other thread say you can't do that. Those aren't necessarily our rules, but it sounds good to me!

But... is a snowguy good or bad? Hmm... For that matter, is a Grabby Gnome good or bad!? I'm guessing good on that one.

I have received all the necessary PMs to start the day!

The elves had finished their working for now,
and made their ways home to their homes in the town.
However, hidden in the exiting swarm
was none other than that villian, Dr. Luke Warm.

He snuck into the Workshop, called his henchmen to come,
and they snuck through the Workshop, and then they saw some
presents being wrapped. "This must be," Luke thought,
"None other than that thing that they call the Giftbot."

Luke took a toy car, and threw it at the machine
and it hit, and the robot caused quite a scene
by sputtering, smoking, and bursting to bits.
You could say that the Giftbot really had quite a fit.

The mafia escaped before the alarm went off,
the smoking ashes caused one of them to cough.
The next day, Santa checked to see what had gone wrong,
and saw machinery parts where they didn't belong.

He saw weird colored bolts, some squares and some rounds and
then he saw the remains of the Giftbot 4000.
There were pieces of steel and red chunky metal.
"Oh shoot," said Santa, "That was Dave Hettel."

Dave Hettel/Giftbot 4000 was blown up by the mafia! He was pro-town. He gets a last gasp (one last post).

You are the Giftbot 4000! Giftbot 4000 commands you to enjoy! You have lots of memory in your memory banks. Your main use is on present making, so you cannot stop. You cannot stop until... oh... 4 AM. But then it is back to gifts. Toys, wonderful toys!

Santa was checking to see if the mafia killed others
of the workers, or maybe even their brothers.
However, what he saw made him say, "Oh!"
Blackmyth was shivering down to his toes!

Blackmyth was nervous, he said he saw a white zoid,
then when he called for pizza, he saw The Noid.
Santa said, "Calm down, Indeedy," and now he said - I quote,
"Maybe today you just shouldn't vote."

Santa turned around and saw another surprise;
Hammered was frozen in a block of ice.
She couldn't move or speak or do anything,
she hoped that she wouldn't have to wait until Spring.

Blackmyth has been apparently given a big shock, and cannot vote today. Hammered is frozen and cannot vote, or even post today.

I don't know that I want to slay Sloth. Who's to say that Snowguy is a mafia? Also, I'd like to share the theory I came up with in the chatroom (pretty questionable, but possible): Maybe the three Pengulons are the mafia. I say this because:

1 - I recall PK saying there'd be 3 mafia.
2 - There are 3 Pengulons.
3 - In KoL, there's a Penguin Mafia.
4 - PurpleKoopa plays a whole lot of KoL

This all makes sense! But it also suggests that the mafia has no special powers at all (I would imagine that the 3 pengulons are all powerless, since otherwise they'd probably all have the same power, which is weird).

That makes Sloth an innocent for sure. However, this theory is also pretty sketchy, because would the mafia really be powerless? I withhold my vote for the moment, but not too much longer, I don't want to hold up the fast-paced rhyming excitement of Christmas Mafia!

Maybe Sloth has something to say in his defense? People sure are jumping on him.

Ok, that was suspicious. First of all, he voted me without any kind of explanation. Second, I have been proven innocent, as Dave could tell if I was evil or not, and he said I was good.

Logical explanation: Julian is a mafia. Thats the only reason I could think of that someone would want me dead. Though I have my own doubts, as posting that he wanted me gone would be something a mafia wouldnt do, as they could just kill me off later and not seem suspicious.

Meh, but everyone is voting Sloth, and I would like to see if my original theory is right. So, VOTE: Sloth. Sorry, if your not a mafia.

Flaw in this current game: PK talked about the roles in chat as he was developing them (bad move, sucker!). Now, there may be more to them or changes that he didn't say, but I did hear some Cryozoid stuff, and it's only fair to share the wealth. What I heard was:

The cryozoid can choose to protect someone during the night. If the guy he chooses to protect isn't attacked, they get surprised instead. Definitely a Townie role.

So it wasn't malicious at all, assuming that is how the Cryozoid works.

The townsfolk looked for a scapegoat,
they found one, and tugged on Santa's coat
while they said, "We've found a mafia, sir,
one who has caused this 'orrible spur.

After we get rid of him, then the North Pole
can punish him with lots of coal.
Are we ready? Are we ready? Are we ready for the present?
If we get rid of him, we'll sure be content."

Santa rolled his eyes and wiggled his nose.
He scratched his head and rubbed his toes.
"You can give him the present, and I think that's great,"
said Santa, "but I think you're making a mistake."

The elves didn't care, they wanted to play
even though they didn't do much today.
They took Sloth, and put him in front of a box
all wrapped up and fancy - they told him it was socks.

Sloth loved socks, so he opened the gift
and a boxing glove came out and punched him, quite swift.
He flew off the horizon, he flew through the sky,
"You morons!" he yelled, "I was a nice Snowguy!"

Sloth/Snowguy was punched out of the North Pole. He was pro-town. He also gets a last gasp.

I snuck into Julians house tonight, trying to find some clues on if he is Mafia or not. in one room marked 'Target Practice', I found some Icicles and Snowballs, presumably the projectiles, and a dummy of Santa. Very very suspicious. The santa was unharmed, though.

I think he is Jack frost, and a mafia. I will probably be killed tommorrow, so I will say goodbye with my last breath.

A cold winter's night was here at the Pole
Dr. Luke, was taking an evening's stroll
he decided, hey, here, while it's nice and snowing
you might take a walk to get where you're going.

A Grabby Gnome bumped into Dr. Luke,
it gave both of them quite a spook.
The gnome didn't realize that the man in the jacket
was Luke, who had really caused all this racket.

"Excuse me sir," said the gnome, "but do you know the way
that I can just run far far away?
I stole some stuff, now the guy's really upset
and stealing that guy's wallet is something I regret."

"No problem, my good fellow," said the doctor, with a smirk.
"I'll help you run away from that jerk gone berserk.
You see that cliff over there? I think if you run
over there then can hide and he won't spoil your fun."

"Thanks mister!" said the gnome, who dashed toward the cliff
but he could not stop, instead he did slip
off the cliff, and there was no trampoline where he dashed;
he dropped into the cold icy water with a splash!

Dr. Luke Warm was holding the slippery soap
that he had rubbed beforehand on that slippery slope.
"Heh heh," said the doctor, "For him that's the end.
And for a matter of fact, that was Regen."

Regeneratorizer/Grabby Gnome is sleeping with the Arctic fishes now. He gets a last gasp (one last post).

Of course, this wasn't the real "present",
the real "present" was something much less pleasant.
"Now, Julian," said Santa, "You've been accused
of working with Luke." Julian looked confused.

"I didn't do anything!" he said through the tube.
"That Grabby Gnome's wrong!" he said, froze as cube.
Santa said, "Well, how do you explain this
dummy of me that you happened to miss?"

Julian was silent. Santa chuckled, "Just as I thought.
Give him the present, his plans will go for naught."
However, before Julian could start to bawl,
the ice he was in started to thaw.

Then just as Santa was to give him the thing,
Julian ran away, with a sound effect, "ZING!"
The elves were disappointed. "No worries," said Saint Nick.
"He'll run into the our other trick quite quick."

Julian was running as fast as he could,
"They'll never catch me, since I'm not really good!"
However, Julian tripped on a wrapped box,
and out poured a gazillion billion building blocks.

Santa came in, stuffed Julian in his big sack,
and flew him in the sleigh, to somewhere he couldn't come back.
Saint Nick said, "He was definitely a minion for Dr. Luke Warm,
he was big, white, wore a red hat, he was definitely Bjorn."

Julianmh102/Bjorn has been caught, captured, and put to justice! He was a MAFIA! He gets a last gasp, but he may not want to use it, because that may give his partner away.

(This is not a direct quote, since that would give away the mafia partners!)
You are Bjorn! You are a jolly old Yeti. Lately, there has been some nasty mafia attacking Santa's Workshop. All that noise and screaming is making you cranky! However, since you'd rather not beat up the mafia, who are vicious and tough, you have joined the mafia, who work for Dr. Luke Warm, to ruin Christmas - this may seem dumb, but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I'm getting confused, and I'm not a sleuth

So I wonder if Julian really told the truth.

I think he may have meant me... with 'him' meaning Bjorn. Me=creator of Bjorn. But I'm not entirely sure of that. Of course, if he didn't mean that, it doesn't make a lot of sense - the Bjorn backstory we saw doesn't have a 'creator' of Bjorn.

That winter night was cold, vicious, and hard,
so Dr. Luke sent his two henchmen into the yard
and into a house to do some killin'
since Dr. Luke and his henchmen are really mean villians.

The dweller of the house opened the door
to find two "salesmen", and what's more,
they barged into the home and shined the man's shoes
as they helped themselves to his glitters and glues.

"That's my arts and craft project!" the homeowner cried
when the "salesmen" used the glue to make a glueberry pie.
"Get out of my fridge! Get out of here now!"
But they shoved him around like a big giant cow.

The homeowner suddenly had a thing drawn to mind.
"You're not salesmen, I say, I know your kind!
You're mafia!" "Very good, how did you guess?"
"The tuxedo and fedora - I know how you're dressed."

"That's very true," chuckled the cruel criminal pair.
"Now we'll just have to kill you like you weren't even there."
They drew a large blade, and walking quite stiff,
they accidently knocked over a gift.

They drew their attention to this odd ruse,
but some serpent jumped out of the box and yelled, "BOO!"
The mafia were scared right out of their wits!
They jumped out the windows, smashing them to bits!

The man plugged the draft with boxes, and thanked the weird snake
who was in the building, just having a break.
The mafia were alive, since the snow was quite soft,
but they didn't get to be evil, just like Microsoft.

"What's the boss gonna say?" said one mafioso.
"He's gonna get mad, and we'll get no dough."
"Whatever," said the other, who was quite freezin'.
"So what if we didn't get to kill off Ducklegion?"

Ducklegion's been attacked, but he was saved!
I'm so glad the mafia didn't send him to his grave.

Santa checked to see who froze, but instead
he just found our favorite, now froze, Marshmallow Head.
"Ho ho no!" cried Santa, "Well, this is real lame.
Now who in the world's gonna make our Dumb games?"

Jamul can't post or vote today - he's been frosted.
He's also quite tired, and pretty exhausted.

Ducklegion is Jack Frost. He is something like a roleblocker, and is in fact Mafia. What he does is choose someone to freeze each night and thus, make their roles impossible to use. So, without any more theory:

The townsfolk wanted the day over quick
so they found a scapegoat lickety split.
They figured since Julian was frozen, but not at all good,
then Jamul's also a baddie, it should.

Santa was still sleeping, sound in bed,
but the townsfolk practically wanted Jamul's head
on a platter. So they woke up good old Saint Nick
and told him that Jamul was the one causing these tricks.

Santa was still sleepy, so he decided,
"I'm going back to sleep, you guys go unguided."
They took the icecube that was our administration
of our wonderful, glorious, Hamumu organization.

They thawed him, but during the thaw, they realized
that Jamul had turned into cookie bits - what a surprise!
They whispered to each other, and they mumbled,
"I guess that's the way the cookie crumbled."

Yes, our favorite admin is now cookie crumbs
the guy who came up with this website that's Dumb.
Will we still get LL2? We'll see if we can.
But for now, let's feel sorry for the Ninjabread Man.

Jamul/Ninjabread Man crumbled under pressure! He was pro-town. He also gets a last gasp.
You are a Ninjabread Man! Working with Santa is great - the only problem is when he tries to dunk you in milk and eat you! Thus, you have developed Xtreme Ninja Skillz to avoid getting eaten. Since the mafia have arrived, you can also use your Xtreme Ninja Skillz on them!

Anytime during the day, you may say NINJA ATTACK: Player, substituing Player for who you want to attack, obviously. If you do this, the person you attack is instantly killed, and the day ends instantly. You do NOT have to do this, in fact, it's best that you don't unless you are sure the person you're attacking is a mafia. You can only do this twice in the game, and you cannot do two attacks in the same day.

I just want to say that you guys got PLAYED. Big. It would serve you well to look into the source of your info and see how this came about. I find myself very suspicious of Coolguy, who appears to have been the ringleader of this little cookie party. I mean come on guys, except for Regen who GOT the info in the first place, I was leading the charge against Julian!

Also, I have been yodelled at by Ducklegion - he is not mafia. Unless his power involves the ability to lie in his yodels, but I don't think it does. He sure is acting incredibly odd, though.

I believe Chaucer, Munkee, and Coolguy are the primary targets you should be considering. Coolguy is Jack Frost - is that mafia or townie? I do not know. But I do know that if I hadn't been frozen today, I would've ninja stabbed Chaucerkaruss.

and if I had rushed, I'd do a lousy job.

One day, out in a cold, cold, dark field,
there was the mafia, hiding and concealed.
They were feeling kinda lazy, so they hid in a bush
waiting for someone that they could ambush.

"How long do we have to stay out in the cold?"
"Just a bit longer, then we'll see horror unfold."
They then saw, on the frost, something revealed,
it was a lone, training, fighting, Baby SEAL.

"This is too sweet!" said the mafia, who then would steal
a banana peel trap for that little seal.
They took a banana, ate it, and then they
threw the peel where the SEAL would slip and fall, and possibly be slayed.

The SEAL looked at the banana, and then he barked, "Yield!
What are you doing out here right now out in this field?"
The banana said nothing, so the SEAL just walked on,
but slipped on the peel, he had not enough brains, too much brawn.

The mafia then jumped out of their shrub,
and clubbed the poor seal with some seal clubbing clubs.
They flew from the scene, fast like a flying saucer,
they had just finished clubbing our good buddy Chaucer.

Chaucer/Baby SEAL was clubbed late last night,
much to the Dr. Luke Warm's nasty delight.
He was pro-town. He also gets a last gasp.

"Was that a mafia?" said the townsfolk to Saint Nick.
"I don't think so," said Santa. And Munkee dug quick!
He called out through the snow, "Well, I hope you enjoyed
getting rid of me! I was the Cryozoid!"

Munkee/"Surprise" Cryozoid feels bad now, so he fled from the Pole!
I'm quite ashamed. You should all get coal.
He was pro-town. He also gets a last gasp.

Up at the top of a hill in the Pole,
Dr. Luke and his henchmen started to stroll
to the house at the top of the hill, oh so tall.
They broke into the house and walked down the halls.

"Oh no! It's them!" said a yeti who woke
to hear noises that were sinister - this was no joke.
The yeti ran down the halls as fast as he could,
all these noises he understood.

Around the next corner, and on the next line,
were the mafia, said the yeti, "Hey, that's mine!
"You can't just go eating that glueberry pie!"
Said the mafia, "Hey, man, we surely can try."

Wait a second! The mafia had been here before!
The person ran to his room and slammed the door
but the mafia were already in the room,
ready to cause pain, gloom, and doom.

"Help me, Cryozoid!" But Munkee was not at his aid,
no one would help him, not even the maid.
The mafia brought the cannon for firing, that was used last day,
but the mafia had it now - much to the yeti's dismay.

They stuffed him in the cannon - "Man, this guy's huge!"
Then they fired him off while he yodeled the blues.
As the yeti soared through the sky, out of the Pole's region,
the mafia chuckled. "There goes Ducklegion!"

Ducklegion/Sven was cannon'd late last night.
The mafia sure gave him quite a big fright!
He was pro-town. He also gets a last gasp.

They were pretty sure it was some mafia spy

Wesley was supicious, but not very much.
But for the town, that would be just as such.
Wesley panicked, and drew out a large toy gun.
He fired one toy missile - that's right, just one.

Santa chuckled as it harmlessly bonked into his belly
(which of course, shook like a bowl full of jelly).
Wesley cried, "You don't enjoy my missile toy?!
I've had enough! Now I'm really annoyed!"

He fired more missiles into the ground,
but he took off like a rocket, flying abound.
He flew out of the sky, out of the atmosphere!
"Oh no!" cried Santa, "He's too high for my reindeer!"

Wesley went too high for reindeer, and even the sleigh!
Could this mean the end of this holiday?
Yes, Wesley took off, with great force and great zeal.
However, he was also a kindly Elite SEAL.

Wesley/Elite SEAL took into the stars!
He's going away, and he's flying so far.
He was pro-town.

You are an Elite SEAL! Drop down and give me twenty! Let's see some sweat! No pain, no gain!

Once in the night, you may choose to fire missiles off in a bunch of various directions. They don't hurt anyone - they're only toy missiles (Santa would be mad if they weren't) - but they do create a weird smoke screen. This smoke screen negates any night actions that involve you. However, they only last that night.

and up came the moon like a giant balloon.
But Dr. Luke and his goons were not at rest.
"We've almost beat them! We're surely the best!"

They waited, and soon came out a small rat
who was not ready for mafia combat.
He woke up that night for some midnight snack.
Cheese was what he wanted, and right now, what he lacked.

Oddly, he saw cheese right next to his house.
Somebody left some cheese for this little mouse!
He took it, but the cheese was attached to a wire,
and suddenly, the little rat's house caught on fire!

He dashed back into the house, though that's not very wise,
but the rat wanted to get his cheese supplies.
However, he couldn't get to them - there were flames in his path.
He wished he could get rid of them with a big bath!

The rat then left sadly, then his house collapsed.
Then something else happened - the mafia, perhaps
did something awful - but that's bad and still unknown.
The important thing is - that was Evil Clone.

Evil Clone/Squeaker had something awful
happen to him - it was probably unlawful.
He was pro-town.

Then the mafia, in the group, withdrew their cloaked glamour
and it was revealed - it was Blackmyth and Hammered!!!
Dr. Luke Warm then cried, "Attack!" and attack they did.
Dr. Luke snickered, "Now the end will begin."

The other two Pengulons, WackieWatty and Coolguy,
flew up to protect Santa if Dr. Luke would try
to attack. "You won't hurt Santa, that would be the worst!
You're going to have to get by us first!"

WackieWatty threw a poetry book at Luke, that mean man,
but Hammered blocked it with her hammer that banned.
She then pecked at WackieWatty, who fell to the floor.
Hammered then squealed a victory roar.

Coolguy, a mime, mimed a brick wall.
But it was not real - then on Coolguy it falled
and for some reason, it still smushed the cliff pushing king.
"Heh heh," said Blackmyth, "I didn't have to do anything."

Dr. Luke cornered Saint Nick, and pulled out a blade,
a hammer, a +5 stick bug, and a grenade.
Santa cried, "You can't do this! Please stop!
Please don't send me off to the chop shop!"

Then something happened that was unexpected!
Dr. Luke threw down his weapons, and in a manner respected,
said, "I won't. And I just had a change of heart.
Just stealing presents isn't really smart."

Santa thanked Dr. Luke, even though he was mean,

You are really part of a group trying to ruin Christmas - you, ?, and ? are all employed by Dr. Luke Warm - but for some reason, you got mixed up in with the entertaining group of Pengulons - Coolguy and WackieWatty. Since you normally speak with a thick mob accent that would give you away, you have been studying poetry - apparently haikus are kind of funny. Let's try that.

You are not the head of the group, so you do NOT PM me the night kill - unless, however, both of your partners are dead. You are Jack Frost! Your cold, cold heart has made you want to ruin Christmas. You, with your partners, Hammered and Julian, are working for Dr. Luke Warm. Armed with your pitchfork and freezing skills, there is nothing that can stand in your way!

Each night, PM me who you want to kill. If all goes to plan, that person will get killed, or otherwise, just experience some serious injuries. (Polish your pitchfork!) You may also give me who you want to freeze - if a person is frozen, they cannot talk at all during the day. Yes, you can freeze your partners - it might make them look less suspicious. HOST'S COMMENTS:
The mafia had some good roles. I tried to make nonconfusing roles, but maybe they were too powerful! Another thing is that the game went by so fast!!! You guys should've slowed down and thunk. The mafia also got good by getting rid of the cop roles quickly. The game might not have been perfect, but I'm glad people had fun...

I want to say that I thought the mason-mafia was a really nifty idea...

BUT it completely and totally and utterly and massively broke the game. The mafia couldn't possibly lose! The problem is manifold:

1. Hammered was beyond suspicion as the other pengulons would always vouch for her
2. She knew everything the other pengulons knew, so she got tons of insight into townie info.
3. She had very good control over the votes of the rest of the pengulons, because they had no possible way to ever suspect her.

These elements combined meant the mafia members all had protection from an extra 2 votes beyond their numbers (since Hammered would work to convince the pengulons not to vote for them), and they had an extra two votes in their favor during lynching time. In a way, the mafia had a majority for the last half of the game! And of course seeing a block of 3 townies convinced of something is pretty much going to sway the rest every time, especially later in the game where their masonness was fairly proven to the public.

The problem is, it turns the entire mason concept into a purely (and hugely) negative thing for the town, when normally it is a very positive one. I think such an insanely powerful role would only work fairly if the townies had maybe 5 or 6 more members, a huge numerical advantage.

It could be different in future games, now that people know not to trust fellow masons, but not knowing that that was a possibility really made the town crazily vulnerable. It's the opposite of the last game where having two invincible townies meant there was no possible way for the town to lose (Stan Glass just had to remember not to vote, and by doing so the Mucho Moss couldn't ever be killed either).

The lesson I find in all of this: Keep it simple! We haven't yet experienced what an actual normal game of Mafia is like, and it could be very intriguing.

But PS - I'm just saying that was a design error. I think talking about the 'design' is important for future games (and it certainly helped me see some things if I ever make an online mafia thing). Thank you, PK, for running the game and putting in all the fun stuff and poems and making it interesting!
