Post every widely unknown thing you know about chickens here! Besides the Mike story. Note that, while some bits of these facts are off the Internet, some of these come from experience, since raising chickens for selling is one of the few ways my family makes a living.
1. Chickens have the genetic blueprints for teeth.
2. Roosters do NOT crow to wake up people; they crow when alerting their presence to other chickens, which explains why they crow in the evening as well.
3. Raising bantams is considered a hobby.
4. All chickens ever think about besides reproduction is food. Some chickens can also be trained to walk on tightropes and play pianos if motivated with a quantity of food. This main thought alone, despite ensuring their survival, has devolved them from meat-eating dinosaurs into foraging weaklings.
5. Hens actually do crow, provided there's enough food around.
6. It is possible to hypnotize chickens by holding their heads against the ground and drawing a line on the ground with a stick or finger from the chicken's beak straight outwards.
