There is not a large chance of that. Kid Mystic was a spin on the SWC engine. And it has already been confirmed that there will be no sequel to SWC. I think it may have already been confirmed that there will be no Kid Mystic sequel.

Actually, I think not. Because the reason Dr. Lunatic (SPISPOPD, if you like) isn't going to have any sequels is because with SWC, the worlds just keep on coming, and by the time Jamul's finished with this new SPISPOPD there'll be so many new add-ons coming out, it'd look pointless. But the only REAL similarities between Kid Mystic and SWC is the same engine. The Kid Mystic software is obviously incapable of producing more levels and adventures. I'd be very happy a Kid Mystic 2 came out! Maybe after the Loonyland series...

Huh. Dang (whazzuh SWC?)

SWC=Supreme With Cheese.
I don't think there will be a Kid Mystic 2, since Jamul was forced by EGames to make the first one (or something like that) because EGames liked wizards better than bald pumpkin smashers.

What were they thinking?! :D

EGames made a bad choice. Sure, Kid Mystic is a good seller, but Dr. Lunatic is where the money is to be made. Too late now! :D

Nah, eGames would have ruined it, somehow...

I never played the eGames versions, and I probably never will.

Same here. And I don't really feel the need to try it!

I have the original version. :p But it's way way way smaller than the new version.

The eGames version has Mush the Shroom/King Mushroom, though, who, as far as I know, is entirely missing from the re-release.

If you have hankering for Mush, break out Supreme! He was replaced in Kid Mystic (as was The Mama Spider) to make room for more interesting and new challenges.

I don't think you mean 'Mama Spider', as those are certainly in there.

There was a boss Mama Spider at the end of the first world in the eGames Kid Mystic, which was replaced with Optimum Octon in the new version.

I had the first version. Ah... Good times. But the new Kid Mystic is much better. Did I mention I tested it? *Gets hit by brick*

Wow! Old thread relating to current concepts! NICE! :D
Yes, GES, Jamul wrote in the Journal a few months ago he was considering doing Kid Mystic 2 or an expandable game called "MikeyQuest"; however, a few days ago, he also wrote about wanting to learn Unity and Flash more, so KM2 or MQ may not happen until he gets to a reasonable, um, "point of understanding". [Of course, only Jamul really knows; personally, I'd be fine with KM2 being done in the LL2 engine, unless that was "retired" with the Dr. L one. But of course, 3D would rock.]

a sequel would be grand! however, as others have stated previously, the odds are slim to none that that will happen. thankfully, Hamumu seems to be a growing company with new games coming out.

Pretty sure it was stated that there was talk of KM: AoE.
(Which I would much rather see done than Mikey Quest! Kid Mystic rules!)
(I do realize it was said that a second KM was unlikely, but those were really old posts, before Jamul had a Journal about it.)

So do I, for that matter, and unless you're hunting for Hamumu nostalgia, I don't recommend buying it. Trust me, you're getting a lot more for your money's worth by sticking to the newer version. There is absolutely nothing in the old version worth looking at.

TyTBone, the Dr. L engine is the same as the LL2 engine, just very different. Also, is Kid Mystic a good game? I've played the demo, and it seems fun, but I'm not sure.

TyTBone, the Dr. L engine is the same as the LL2 engine, just very different. Technically, that statement is contradictory, but I get what you're saying. AFAI can tell, Jamul retired all those engines.
Megadog

It is basically the same, with minor changes, is what I think he meant, and yes, they are retired, which is a shame, I liked that engine.

Remember now, an abandoning of blocky non-alpha blending 640x480 256-color games that are incapable of orange is not automatically a bad thing - Jamul is still carrying on the Adventures of Bouapha series and the Loonyland series. There's also no reason he can't make 2.5-D games with a new, improved engine.

that are incapable of orange
this is about the only thing I dislike in the Dr. L engine, everything else is fine.

I didn't have much of an issue with it either [although I preferred LL2's version due to the art-style consistency], but Jamul mentioned improving the engine/getting into 3D to attract new, demanding customers.

I think a Kid Mystic 2 would be cool 8).
Maybe an RPG type SWC with lots of
levels and a level editor!

I still find that hard to believe, since Kid Mystic and Spooky Castle are different in so many ways. I've played the eGames version of both before, and I still own the eGames version of Kid Mystic.

Kid Mystic is definetly more of an RPG, but notice that they both have primary weapons (hammers/fireballs), secondary weapons (specials/spells), reflect gems/sproingy springs, speed gems/pants of power, and reverse gems/reverse hammers. And, as evidenced by the new editor, KM clearly uses an old Dr. L engine.

Kid Mystic is just like Dr. Lunatic except it has RPG and uses spells instead of weapons, "Kid Mystic 2: Armies of Evil" should really be created. Maybe with just a new game engine to make it different from the first :)
