I just bought the CD version of Kid Mystic. I got an email that said something along the lines of:
"Thank you for buying Kid Mystic. Here's the downloadable version for you to enjoy until the CD arrives. Then you can uninstall the downloadable game and install the CD version."
The CD just arrived, but I don't want to lose my progress in the downloadable game. Is there anything the CD has that the download doesn't or can I continue playing the downloadable game without missing out on something?

I hope the email doesn't say that (it sure didn't use to!). There's no reason to install from the CD if you have installed the download. They are identical. Just keep the CD for future needs.

Wait - Couldn't someone just use the download version and give the CD to someone else?

They could copy the CD contents a 100 times if they really wanted to.

 Wow! I got a reply from Jamul himself. And I'm just a puny mortal. This is so cool!!! Thanks. Now I don't have to lose my progress.

Yes, obviously - it's possible to copy the download over and over, or the CD over and over, or anything else. The download+CD thing doesn't make that any easier or harder. It's just data! Of course, any of those things is illegal and totally ripping me off. If you like my games, buy them.

If you like his games, then give him money so he can make more!

More, you say? That would be awesome! I think Hamumu games are among the best in the world. Only Nintendo (and perhaps Ensemble Studios) can even compete with Hamumu.

Well when I first got Supreme my dad put the install file on a CD in order to transfer it to our laptop (which doesn't have the internets) and installed it there. Then when my friend bought Supreme he put it on his computer. But something along the lines of his hard drive got wiped due to a virus or something. Back then I didn't know that he could've just emailed you, jamul for a new download code so I let him use the install from my CD to get it again figuring if he had already bought it it was OK.
