Help! How do I get the fairy in Lost in the Woods?

Somehow I was able to get it the first time through, but in challenge mode I can't seem to figure it out. How do I get to the bell?

Destroy all aquatic creatures (try killing all the Octons first, as that'll make the Aquazoids near the bell die).

There was also a switch to pull somewhere, I think.

Afaik that switch is only required to get one of the orbs in that level; getting the fairy bell should work without activating the switch.
