Hey, all. I'm new here.
I was just wondering...there appears to be two versions of Kid Mystic, and I own one of them. The first one - the one I own - is apparently the first version distributed by eGames, which they titled Spooky Castle - The Adventures of Kid Mystic. The second one is the one distributed by Hamumu Software now, known as Kid Mystic.
Can anyone verify this?

Yes, the one we sell has been updated with about 4 new levels per chapter, adds 4 fairies you can collect per chapter (they fly around you, providing some type of benefit/penalty, each one different), and adds I think 7 items to the shop. Then on top of that it adds Madcap Mode (a harder version for when you finish the game, but with the ability to buy crystals that increase your power beyond normal), and Challenge Mode (special mode with specific new goals for every level), and a bunch of secrets. Challenge Mode is simply awesome.
So it's a big upgrade! You can actually spot many of the differences by trying our demo version.

You are absolutly correct. I would recommend buyong "Kid Mystic," as it is an upgraded version of the egames version.
EDIT: Drat, too late.

Ah, yes. I've tried the Demo, and I think you did a great job. The only issue is a slight slowdown that I encounter if my screen animates a lot of water.
...uhh, seven new items to the shop? In the original, there were sixteen, I think.

Then it's +9, I believe. I know it went from XxX to X+1xX+1. The water can be disabled in the options menu, I think. If not, it can be done by editing the config file (config.txt in the game's folder).

Aha! It's +8, as the Exit button fills the bottom-right square.

The water effects (if taking up a large percentage of the screen) slow down pretty much any PC. I think the new effects were created because the water used before wasn't as realistic.
I haven't played the original eGames Kid Mystic, but even so, I would say that this one if worth buying!;)

Plus, you can turn-off the fancy water in the options menu.

If you uninstall the egames version it doesn't let you re-install it!!!
Atleast thats what happened to me...
Thats why I got the new one which is MUCH MUCH better!!!!
I still haven't beat it all though(Madcap mode is uber hard)

Actually, if the exit button also filled up the bottom-right square in the eGames version, that'd result in 9 additional items :P
BTW, something that's in Spooky Castle: The Adventures of Kid Mystic but missing from the remake (Kid Mystic) is King Mushroom (basically Mush the Shroom with a different name), who is the boss of the 2nd chapter in the eGames version but was replaced in the remake the the game would not be as similar to Dr. Lunatic anymore. So the only reason for anyone to still buy the eGames version instead of the new Kid Mystic would be if they really want to fight Mush the Shroom with Kid Mystic's spells :P

The bosses for the first two chapters are changed... greatly improved, I would say!

Yeah, but the first chapter's boss was just a Mama Spider (or multiple Mama Spiders? I don't remember) in the eGames version, and those still appear in a regular Chapter 2 level while King Mushroom/Mush the Shroom is completely gone in the remake :P

The first Chapter's boss in the first incarnation of Kid Mystic was a single Mama Spider on a bridge that was not compressed...and the riverside where Kid starts off from was much wider as well.
While the replacement of the Mama Spider with the Optimum Octon in Kid Mystic is something that I like, as well as that "bridge came back" thingie, I find the lack of space on the riverside a bit dangerous. Of course, that prevents you from sitting at one spot and firing a million fireballs at the tentacles and Octon without taking damage.
I don't really like Mush the Shroom, if that's its original name...dumb Mushie Bazooka attack. Replacing it with the Three Billy Goats was a wise idea. It caught my sister's attention so much that she asked her friend how to defeat the Three Evils in Diablo (or at least, according to what I read from the Sneak Peeks). She probably thought they were cute or something.
What I'm more interested in is the Rapids Sequence somewhere in Chapter 2, where Kid has to move downstream on a log. That's something I've never seen before; it's as unique as a bouncy shoreline.
In the eGames incarnation, you'll find multiple Mama Spiders in the level where you get Spellbook 6 (Summon Ptero).

I agree, Wackie. But I'm a lazy person, so if I want to get it, I would either:
1. Save up on Yerfbucks and get the game; or
2. Wait till I'm old enough, then visit Jamul personally.
I'd prefer the latter to the former. Online shopping is out of the question due to parental restrictions.

There was a way to turn off the water conditions.
And there's another of those rafting levels in Chapter 4. :p

Now THAT's another option I didn't think of, but I won't do it now. I've got examinations to think of.

Indeed. You don't want to go buying Dumb Games when you have exams and stuff to study for!
But of course, when you're finished with them, I definitely do advise getting Kid Mystic, because it is a very addictive game...;)

Ah...decisions, decisions. It'll be a tough choice between Supreme with Cheese, LoonyLand and Kid Mystic.

Go with Supreme, and maybe LL2.

Supreme is a must have, what with a level editor and 80+ worlds, of course, but between LL and LL2, I prefer the former (maybe because I fancy playing as Bonkula).

Actually, Supreme has the best part of 300 worlds.
