Got a glitch - can't solve puzzle now - Tomb of Darkness

OK, the puzzle where you flip switches to change the letters, to get the words to say
O P E N
SESAME

One of my letters glitched. I don't know how, but the letter tile disappeared and was replaced by various landscape tiles - it was cycling through the walls, the ground, the switches, bones, a green button, a teleporter looking thing, and all sorts of stuff. After a bit of messing with it, it started to go through a different set of tiles. Now, it's just a black box, that blinks ??? in it. I have the rest of the letters in place, but no matter how many times I flip the switch, it's not opening.

So, I'm stuck with O P _ N

So, what shall I do here? I'm hoping I don't have to restart - got three hammers already, and I really am not looking to working through the tomb of sparks again just yet. I *hate* those shocking horrors.

My encounter wasn't as bad as yours, but in my old profile, every now and then when I was cycling through the letters, I got strange tiles. I got bright, purplish tiles and I think I got a black tile once. It didn't stop the puzzle like yours did though.

This has been reported repeatedly and is fixed in the coming patch. If it happens to you, all you need to do is pound on the "decrease all letters" button over and over, and you will eventually get back to the letters. You can still use the switches just fine - it's a very rare occurrence that flipping from Z to A will cause it to jump into other tiles. If it does, again just jump onto the decrease button until you get back into letters.

This happened to me too...
Every time it wnet from z to a it would flash black....

Every time i did it the black seemed to last alittle longer.
Luckily i finished the puzzle before it became a real problem.
When I did finish it the black lasted for 5 seconds then it ould dissapear...
It was pretty wierd.

Oh, that reminds me of another way you can get by easily - once you flip a Z, if it turns to dark stuff instead of an A, just wait a second. It'll become an A if you don't flip it again.

Thanks a lot! That did the trick - I just had to pound the switch for a few minutes, it was pretty far gone. Eventually it stopped with the ???, and went back to the tiles. Then it finally got back to the letters.

Phew, was worried for a bit that I'd have to start over.
