have you opened the gate?
If so, remember that the hammers have different properties, as do the baddies.
Watch their life meters to see if you are damaging them.
(If you haven't opened the gate, then maybe a "friend" can help you).

well next you turn on lanterns in water with sparkthrower(theres 3),then walk across the bridge destoy the lasers and shoot spark thrower randomly.
search around in that room and in the SW corner there is a switch.
next turn on the lantern behind the wall with earsplitter and go into the dumb side.
you can figure it out from there.

Here's what I used:
Lady: Lightreaver
Speedy: Sparkthrower
Rafe: Bonecrusher
Grue: Flamebringer
Sir Spookley: Planetcrusher & Flamebringer, plus lots of hammering away
Skull: There's a place where you can get him to stand still, then just hammer away. I think I used the Flamebringer to speed things up, but I don't recall for sure.
In fact, I hammered away at all of them except Rafe. Good luck!

Iron Skull is definitely meant to be fought with the Lightreaver. I'm pretty sure he's also the highest XP yielding enemy in the game. (I think he actually gave me around 20000 (!) xp) And endless waves of blue orbs. =P It took a while for all those to dissipate.
Too bad you can't conjure him to fight for XP. =P

Iron Skull is definitely meant to be fought with the Lightreaver.Yeah, I knew that, but I kept misjudging when to press X. After dying a few too many times, I gave up and hammered him to death.

 What's a earsplitter? And again how can I come to the Dumb side.

Yeah, I knew that, but I kept misjudging when to press X. After dying a few too many times, I gave up and hammered him to death.
I usually waiting until he shot the big beam, and then used Lightreaver from the side. Less risky, and works just as good. =D
Hammering him to death must have took a while - I didn't notice much, if any damage when I was hammering him. Unless the occasional hammer explosion was what dealt damage, since I don't think I had when I fought him. Or maybe you only have to reflect him once before you can hurt him with hammers. I just don't remember doing any damage to him at all when I tried to hammer him.
Knittel: Earsplitter is the dark blue hammer, from the Tomb of Din.
To get to the Dumb Side you use Planetcrusher standing on the purple flashing tiles.

Earsplitter is the hammer found in the tomb of din.
You need all the hammers exept flamebringer to get to the end of the underhollow.(though it's quite useful)

That's Planetsmasher, not Planetcrusher, you silly people!

It's quite hard to get to because of the guitar hero thing at the end.

I found an easy way to beat rafe.
send funny bone in before yourself and make him go north and in. hopefully he'll get stuck behind rafe and rafe won't attack him although the glassjaws will.

LOL, I even had Smasher, but I wasn't sure, so I just copied what was written earlier in the post. That's what I get for second-guessing myself. =P

Now how i can beat the Headless Hoseradish

Now, that's a puzzle itself.
The best hint I can give, without giving everything away, is to explore the area a bit, and pay attention to what his projectiles do.

Where is the journal page number 18?

Journal page 18 should have been lying right on the ground right as you went into the final zone.
