For too long has a spirit haunting Hamumu. Angering users. Proving n00bishnes. Wasting space. This, my friends, is the spirit of bumping. Threads up to a year old. Bumped. Usually with a useless post. This has got to end! We must end bumping TODAY! Sign this petition for harsher punishment for bumpers, maybe even a 3 bump ban.

There are much more serious things than bumping (and bumping isn't necessarily always bad.) Besides, most bumps get deleted anyways.

So... Is anyone but me driven insane by n00bs bumping 5 month old threads to post "cool!"?

5-month-old threads are nothing.
I've seen 4-YEAR-old threads on the last page bumped to say "the link doesn't work anymore"

Bumping is alright.

What!!! I can't stand it! It just proves nothing but that you're a n00b if you bump!
@Diginova: WOAH!! Are you signing then.
@Ducklegion: Meh. I just hate it when real threads are displaced by bumps.

so just because they bump they are noobs? It like saying people who use shortcuts are noobs, or people who cheat are noobs, or people who spam are noobs, or people you dont like are noobs.

Bumping topics that are over 3 years old, and have had like 20 pages between them and the first page is bad.
Oh and BUMP!

There is no need for a campaign, as there is Hammered.

There are cases where bumping is OK. Say you have a question about a world and you do the right thing and search the forum for an answer. You discover a thread about that world, but your question isn't addressed in it. It is better to add that question to the thread about that world that already exists than it would be to create a whole new thread about that world with only your one question.
However, those people who bmup things just for the sheer joy of bmuping them (You know who you are!) are the reason that many of the Total Mayhem threads are locked and, thanks to this thread, perhaps you now realize that you are annoying more people than just the mods!

A bump of a couple months in a help thread is fine. But bumps of 5 years are just insane.
Case in point: http://www.hamumu.com/forum/showthread.php?p=142299

Of course, that "5 year bump" was a question about a specific game, posted in a thread for that game. So it's bad how?
