No! Those are for displaying code, not for having the code do anything! AFAIK, HTML is disabled on the forums anyway.

Yeah, although it was enabled in the beginning times of the phpBB forum (though Jamul claims it has "always been disabled" :P). Thus, code tags are basically useless, as, for whatever reason, BBCode or whatever that's called still takes effect even inside a code tag. I don't think it was that way at the phpBB forum, and that forum also had an option to turn off BBCode for the entire post. -o_-o

EDIT: Actually, since there seem to be seperate tags for HTML code and PHP code, I have no idea what on earth the "code" tag was even supposed to be used for. -o_-o

The HTML and PHP tags syntax-colour the appropriate codes. Also, I have discovered that on Vbulletin, you use and tags.

The purpose of a code tag in general is to keep things (intended for showing computer code) nicely formatted for you, and in a fixed-width font. It's also good for ascii art:

O
O O
OOOOO

Which makes me wonder why the "noparse" thing isn't even among the extended post editor thingy's buttons, yet the "code" thingy is. It's probably just some alien conspiracy, though.

EDIT: Ah, ASCII art. Didn't think of that. :O It should be renamed an "ASCII tag".
