How can I change from Fairy to Fairy? I need Steelskin to get any further.

You change them when you are on the overworld map. Just press the Magic button there.

Jamul, I must be real dumb as I don't know what you mean by overworld. I must be missing something here. Sorry,,,,

When you are not in a level. Out there where bumping into a monster starts a random battle, and you can't attack or use magic.
