How to get ceartain chao:

Normal dark chao: Play as shadow in the garden keep petting a chao until it wont go any blacker then feed it like crazy. do not give it any chaos drives. then wait.
shadow chao: Play as shadow. do the same, exept only give it green and red chaos drives. mainly green, though.
Omochao: Keep giving it skill fruit and nothing else.

Evolution Basics: The first evolution determines whether the chao is Hero, Dark, or Normal as well as the Chao's first "stat" evolution (Swim, Fly, Run, Power, None).

How to get the evolutions you want:
Hero: Raise it with hero characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles)
Normal: Raise it evenly with hero and dark
Dark: Raise it with dark characters (Shadow, Eggman, Rouge)

Swim: Yellow Chaos Drives
Fly: Purple Chaos Drives
Run: Green Chaos Drives
Power: Red Chaos Drives
None: No Chaos Drives, just Normal Fruit

Evolution 1:
Normal/Swim - Yellow and Green with Dark Green highlights
Normal/Fly - Basic NiGHTS Chao
Normal/Run - Basic Sonic Chao (Looks like Sonic but green)
Normal/Power - Red with Orange Highlights, has three spikes
Normal/None - Looks like a newborn chao but with green highlights

Hero/Swim - Greenish-Blue Markings
Hero/Fly - Purpleish markings
Hero/Run - Blueish markings with spike on top of head
Hero/Power - Redish-Orange markings
Hero/None - Blue and Yellow markings

Dark/Swim - Ninja Chao
Dark/Fly - Basic Reala Chao
Dark/Run - Basic Shadow Chao, looks like Shadow with green stripes
Dark/Power - coned head, red striped hands and top
Dark/None - Black with some Red Markings

Chaos Chao
Chaos Chao are immortal and never die. They are difficult to create. To become a Chaos Chao, a chao must have been reincarnated at least twice. After that, the chao must be given one of each animal - NO CHAOS DRIVES. If done correctly, the chao will evolve into one of the following Chao for its 1st evolution.

Hero/Chaos - Angel Chao - blue eyes, pink/peach markings, shiny halo
Normal/Chaos - Light Chao - somewhat resembles Chaos. Green eyes.
Dark/Chaos - Devil Chao - Two big horns, big red spiked fists, ball above head becomes flame, yellow eyes, red-orange cresent on chest

And that is every type of chao in the game!

Wow, thanks for the info! (I don't usually play it, but it's still useful) But is it possible to create a certain kind of chao with the opposite side? (Like a hero chao with dark, or a dark chao with hero)

They don't speed up the evolutionary process, but they do turn the chao that eats them towards the respective type (i.e. feeding a chao alot of dark fruits will lean it towards becoming a dark chao, while feeding it alot of hero fruits will lean it towards becoming a hero chao).

Oh, that explains it. I had raised Dark chaos with hero characters, and Hero chaos with Dark characters before. However, I had given them lots of hero/dark fruit, so they still turned into what I wanted. Thanks!
