According to digiscott-cant-remember-the-number, no one will ever by my game series The Number Eight because there is a phobia of it (That means some people are scared of 8). I said that just becuase some people are afraid of it doesn't mean no one would buy it, but he seemed rather persistant. I considered this, and even though I didn't think much of this theory, I came up with a plan that could earn me some cash. What if I were to learn fluent chinese, spent ages translating the games, and sell it in China where 8 is a lucky number? Id sell millions of coppies! I could start a worldwide company, of selling games over the internet in different countries! What do you think?
PS: The name of this thread is The Number Eight in French, obviously. I don't know the chinese for it, but its meant to imply my idea of selling games in other countries.

Oh well, You spelled 8 wrong. In French, it's spelled "Huit"
Also- I don't think any game would immediately sell that much, even if you released it in china, it wouldn't become that popular- especially considering the fact that your an indie game developer (sort of) Even Hamumu, which has been around a lot longer and has a much larger fan base, isn't that popular (insert sadness here) That, and next to english, Chinese is the hardest language to learn. So yah, those are the flaws I see.

Wikipedia yields nothing for a phobia of the number 8. The number-phobia of America-Commonwealth countries is usually 13, rather than 8.

There is a phobia of getting peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth. And one of beards. And one of the word and colour yellow. Peanut butter, and yellow things (maybe not beards) still sell. Don't worry.

Great Going Atkins, you just made a bunch of people with that phobia very very frightened. Feel ashamed.
Also- Theres probably a fear of Nuclear Bombs out there, but that doesn't stop the government from creating them.

There's also the fear of extremely and frustratingly long words, which is just obnoxious.

Why don't you get fluent in Chinese first and then reevaluate your plan?
