Here, you post an action and the host rolls a dice either in the real world or online. Then the host..
bah, just look at the rules on the first post of this thread: http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=7613.0
THAT'S the rules. You're welcomed to read the rest or even become a member of the forum.
NOTE: I will not be host. someone else has to take my job. I will play!
Also, the Dead/Live/More(?) will not be on this post, it will be on every update.

I am more than willing to host, whether or not this game shall be moved to Total Mayhem (I don't think it should, it has well defined rules.) In fact, I shall start right now.
Rules as I shall be using them:
1: Epic Fail (Does pretty much the opposite of what you wanted.)
2: Fail (Simply fails to do much at all.)
3: Meh (Works, but weakly, and might not be enough.)
4: Win (Works, and fairly well too.)
5: Epic Win (Works, and goes over, remaining within intentions. If you don't like it, then you may reduce it to a win.)
6: Overshoot (Works... but it may backfire on yourself, Corrupt-a-wish style.)
You may change your action at any time until the round ends and the actions are applied.
In addition, you may attempt to stop another player's actions (with an action or an observation). If you do, your rolls shall be handled as such:
1. If both rolls are Epic Fail, neither action works and something suitably catastrophic shall occur.
2. If one roll is Epic Fail, the other roll shall be boosted one level, with no other consequence. Yes, even Fail. Then it shall be applied as an ordinary roll.
3. If both rolls are Fail, nothing happens.
4. If one roll is Fail, the other roll shall be applied as an ordinary roll.
5. If none of the above are true, whichever roll is highest shall work and the other shall fail. If the higher roll is Overshoot, then obviously this may not be a good thing for the person who made that action.
6. If it is a tie of Meh or Win, the actions shall effectively cancel out.
7. If it is a tie of Epic Win, the people who made the actions shall be allowed to attempt to compromise.
8. If it is a tie of Overshoot, an overshooting compromise shall be made by the host.
Until otherwise specified, time shall tick every day hopefully sometime around noon, Pacific Time.
Note that nothing else is defined as of yet... only your will, luck as I have stated, and your ability to cause things.

Admin action: Connor S. added to player list.
Admin action: There are now three players, so the status Looking for Group has been removed from Reecer6 and Coolguy.
Admin action: I think a better idea is to have the round endings occur when all players have made actions or a time has passed. Plus however long it takes for me to notice, of course. Trying out 24h, if there's any objections I'll consider changing that value.
Round 1 start. Forced ending in 24h.

Thanks for being host!
I observe I am reading a very good book in a library of a small town with a population of 50 people including me.
Sillyman
01-16-2009, 08:58 PM
Action too complex. First step would be the creation of people, we only have generic nonsentient plants and animals.
Edit: Oh, and yourselves. But still, no people besides you.
Reecer6
01-16-2009, 09:18 PM
OK, it has a pop. of 1 including me, and maybe other players. And the book is written by Aliens who strangely talk our language, and the books were actually said to be bad on their planet, so they launch the book into space, landing right outside the Library. (So the Library's books are by the door.)
Sillyman
01-16-2009, 09:21 PM
So what you are doing is observing a library (and town limits) enclosing you (and everybody else)? Action registered. However you must also pull said book off the shelf as a separate action.

Connor S.: "I observe the fact that the atmosphere is made up of mostly helium."
Rolling... 3: Meh. The atmosphere does have slightly more helium than Earth's atmosphere, but it isn't mostly helium.
Varkarrus: "I observe a large pit with a single rope that I can easily cross due to my agility, but the monsters can't (interpreted: shouldn't be able to) pursue."
Rolling... 6: You see the pit, but a moment too late. Sure, you could have got across it... if you had seen it earlier. Now you're stuck in a pit... the monsters seem to be getting bored though...

I notice a mega axe of invincibility in my hand.
varkarrus
01-19-2009, 01:35 PM
Personally, I think that the dice rolls should vary depending on the task. For example, noticing an axe of invincibility should have a 1 in 50 chance of success, and a 10 in 50 chance of epic fail.
Also, most things should have:
1: Epic Fail
2-3: Fail
4-10: Success
11-12: Win
13: Epic Win
Sillyman

Varkarrus: I'll need something more concrete than that to change the rules.
Reecer6: Book making section? What book making section? (assuming creation of section as first step)
Note to everybody: I'm more likely to truncate an action if it includes both an observation and an action than if it includes two actions, although anything too complex to be done in a fairly short amount of time will be truncated too.

Rolling... 1. Nope fnord. Oh, and the Illuminati fnord come and take you away fnord to a top-secret prison fnord.
Connor S.: I repair my axe with the repair powder in my hand.
Rolling... 2. You fumble again. Oh, and what repair powder (if you had succeeded I would have assumed you meant the kit and the result would have been the same)
