Is it illegal to download a video game that is no longer sold in stores? If it is, is it amoral?

It is illegal unless the owner of the IP has specifically released it into the public domain. I happen to think it's totally immoral. You need a game so badly you can't go ebay it, or live without it? It's a game. Respect the owner's right to control IP.

It would become legal something like 70 years after the death of the author... but that isn't going to apply to any video games in the near future!
