Game Maker. Sorry, Linux users, but I already have Game Maker, and it would be pointless to buy another game design program. And I have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE with flash.

Oh man oh man...
I better sign up for one of the graphics slots before someone else does.
Oh, also, an idea; have bosses, not just Pinkshirt. :P For example, you should make a boss
called Bodzha King, which is the (surprise!) king of all bodzhas. And have Gorka King, too.
And maybe Frost Wyvern King? Or Demon King?
One last question: Do the quality of the sprites have to equal the drawings in the SWC world? :P

Sadly, the download link for Atkins's game is broken. It's quite fun though.
Also, I'm not quite sure I understand why you need to dictate Game Maker if you're not doing any coding. Wish you luck, though - I can't help as I have so many other projects already :p
EDIT: on a side note, what do you mean by '16-bit'? In game-talk, that just means you have 65536 colors available.

Well, I'll be doing a bit of coding, spriting, and doing the rooms in the game. And 16-bit means SNES-style sprites. Oh, to spriters, here is what the size of sprites should be:
16x16 sprites: Weapons
32x32 sprites: Blocks, Heroes, Enemies
48x48 sprites: Big Enemies, Mini-bosses
64x64 sprites: Bosses

Okay. However, I have certain standards related to resource naming, and I don't like it when they get broken, due to confusion that can be caused.
Standards:
All sprite names start with the letter s.
All object names start with the letter o.
All script names start with the "scr".
All fonts start with the letter f.
All room names start with the letter r.
This lets you identify a resouce quickly by it's first letter and makes it easier to find certain resources.

Don't worry. I'm not giving you the big responsibility of doing all the sprites. I will do a portion, two other people will do two portions and you'll only have to do a fairly-sized portion. Do as much as you can handle. ;)
@SM: I actually want you to make the sprites look crudely drawn with 6-12 colors per sprite

Ather some thought, I've got a way to implement doors into levels and how to have a world map without to much effort or having to mess with arrays(to much). Checkpoints also can bec implamented, but need arrays to work.
Also, all arrays musyt end with 'Array'. Because I have standards. I can start work on the engine this weekend, after finishing my DD.
EDIT: I just discovered Instance Cretion Code in GM. Awesome!

Engine!(see below)
Load it up and give it a try. Left and Right to move, Z to jump and Up to enter purplesquares doors. All hazards reset the room, all graphics are markers, which are to be tiled over using GM's tile function.
If it's wanted, I can work on a world map system and deal with any tweaks wanted for speed and jump hight.

I love it, Hyperme! Jumping just needs be lower, along with killable enemies, a sword attack, a hammer attack and a boss. And maps would be even better. So far, so good! :mrgreen:

Wait, a Hammer attack? This is Boboil, a Boboil-hop on enemies would be much more appropriate for the situation. Still, have fun creating this game. From what I hear it sounds worth getting on my father's windows computer, and could get you Boboil points.

everyone knows the only things boboil can do is destroy bodzhas, mine, and trip over nothing.

You get to also play as Bouapha when you do something in the game. And there should be a Boboil-hopping attack, because that's what he does.

But what does Bouapha have to do with Boboil? They are completely unrelated. They are even from different packs. This is confusing.

And besides, Bouapha is also a important Hamumu character, so I made him a character as well, and who doesn't like Bouapha? :D

Anyhow, the Engine is getting there. Most stuff is implamented, however the world map gets a separate update, and bosses need specifications to be created.
Further more, darkness will be hard to program. If you want darkness having levels.

Darkness Isn't that hard... Well at least not if your going for a circle around the player. You can use surfaces for that :D.

Nobody is under the armour. Boboil is an animated suit of armour. If he was bouapha, he would be throwing his sword.

Very good engine! But shouldn't the heroes and enemies be able to face left and right and have walking animations? Could you work on that?

Almost done with the basics. World map now appears on startup. Arrows move, Z enters level. Having to beat a level to pass it's tile comes next. Also, possibility for secret exits for levels; Yay or Nay?
And I still need them graphics. A list for now:
A floor, wall and inside wall graphic.
Boboil's Graphics(Boupha graphics would also be nice).
Some kind of basic enemy graphic.
