No, I've got all that... it's a scary problem because once you come back to the application, the color remains messed up no matter WHAT. If I re-apply the palette, if I load a picture and palette and display that, anything. Exiting and restarting the game is the only cure. I don't know how that could be, so I'm wondering if maybe ddraw surfaces are being lost or what, but I would expect it to handle that. I added in code to restore them if they are lost, which didn't seem to do anything. I actually have the source code to the library too, but it doesn't seem to help any. The problem only occurs very rarely, except on winXP, where it apparently always occurs (since I use 98, I can't even test for this bug!).

No, you can use OpenGL with it, but this is only using DirectX. I have the latest non-beta version... I think that's the best choice! I'm asking on their newsgroups, but no response yet...

Nope! I don't think it will get fixed.... it'll just be one of those things: "If you're using XP, please don't hit alt-tab". Because nobody I talked to even had a clue. It just didn't make any sense at all, and after a month or so of trying, I've had to give up. There's still a chance that I'll completely rip out the core code and use something else, but it doesn't seem worth it!

Maybe you should get rid of the alt-tab and just put Stockboy in a window. That way, you probably wouldn't have to worry about it. or, you could make it fullscreen, but put the heading up at the top, so you can minimize it. You could also just get rid of the part where you can alt-tab.

I know this is old but a interesting fact might help.......In Glover I have a petium 133 right!so I run the lowest resuloition BUT!if I put it on high res pentium 200+ and when I press "a" to locate the ball and press "shift" the colors will get a little yuky and and I do it again it will ither go to. it is safe to turn your computer off when It really crashes it. or it will go back to my desktop but hardly.

I think I know why changing resuloutions might cause the color's to get all muky. or if the screen get's all liney and color stripes type things move up and down on the screen if this happens your screen can't support that resuloution.
