View Full Version : Coming soon: Halloween Horror Pack 2 ( 1

Guys:

We're getting ready to do a new Halloween Horror Pack real soon (before Halloween!).

This time we want to get everyone involved.

If you remember last year's pack, the idea is simple: we get together a list of level names and have world builders all create a world using the same level names. Once the worlds are created send them to worlds@hamumu.com so that we can bundle them up into one download.

The more people that create a world for this the merrier!

What we need to do first is get the level names.

Get your creative juices flowing!

Submit all of the names that you can think of for Halloween levels.

Once we get all the level names we will take the most popular 9 and use them as the level names for the Horror Pack.

So everyone start replying to this post with your suggestions for level names. They must be Halloween themed, of course!

I'd like to participate! I like all the names suggested so far and have no preference. I would like to be given the names for the levels and then build a level around it. Would the name of the world be 'Halloween Horror 2'?

It takes me forever to do anything, so the sooner we get started, the better!

Jamul

I think so, and I think, if WTG agrees, that you should be required to include a special giving your name in the hub level. Either the traditional "Once every 1 seconds" (without Multiple Use!) kind that says "By Lisa Keck", or a signpost the player can bump into. We don't want to get them mixed up, and credit where it is due is important!

Add some names to choose from for the Horror Pack, Lisa! And everybody else too!

I agree with Mike on the special for the names. The name of the world will be Halloween Horror 2.

As for the level names how about everyone that is posting list their top 9 level names in order from favorite to 9th in line and then we can go from there. I agree with Lisa that we need to get started on the worlds.

Temecula sounds like the name of a vampire. Here are my votes:

(this is hard.. trying to pick between the ones that amuse me most and the ones that inspire intriguing level ideas...)

1. The Pit And The Pengulons

2. The Telltale Brain (remember Fall Of The House Of Mushroom last year? Poe ones are fun)

3. Stories Around The Campfire/Ghost Stories (how about split the difference with "Campfire Ghost Stories"?)

4. Rocky Horror Pygmy Show

5. Bunny The Vampire Slayer

6. Who Wants To Be A Mummy?

7. My Homework Ate My Dog

8. Tricky Treats

9. Cape Fear

That was very hard, and picking the order was even harder!

Well:

So that we can get this thing going the votes have been tabulated and the top 9 level names are:

Bunny the Vampire Slayer

The Pit and the Pengulons

Rocky Horror Pygmy Show

Tricky Treats

Count Spatula

The Telltale Brain

D"> Who Wants to be a Mummy?

Campfire Ghost Stories

Mutant Veggies

Now that the names have been decided here are the rules:

Each world will be called Halloween Horror 2 - (world builder's initials)

There will be 6 regular levels

1 keychain level

1 secret level

1 boss level

It would be nice if everyone has a lunacy key in their world.

The levels can be any size...multiple sizes would be nice in the world.

Place a special in the hub level that shows a message "by Author's name" once every however many seconds (do not have it multiple use!)

There are no requirements on tileset. Feel free to create your own or steal one from another world - that is up to you!

Email the world and if it does have a special tileset please include it when sending to worlds@hamumu.com by October 25th. If you want to send a partial world to get some feedback or to test something feel free to do so. Just let us know that this is not your finished product.

I encourage all world builders to submit a creation for this. After all, it's only 9 levels and the more worlds that are sent in the more fun people will have playing them. After the Horror pack comes out we can take a vote to see which one you like better!

So start pumping out those Halloween worlds!

You can submit more than one world if you would like to do so!

So, who's willing to fess up that they're doing one of these? Or is everyone keeping it a secret? So far I've been putting all my effort into Bunny The Vampire Slayer. Should be something... Of course, with all my moving in stuff, I hope I'll be able to make it by the deadline!

I'm working on it and wondering if I will make the deadline. I just finished making "Bunny The Vampire Slayer" and have 3 others completed (I think).

I think this is a great idea, but next time would like more time to work on it. I am very slow!

I look forward to seeing who else is making Halloween Horror 2!

Guys:

There is still time to get your world into the Halloween Horror Pack 2. I have received several worlds that I am testing to get into the pack. We are going to extend the date to October 27th. After that we will need to get them bundled together so that they can be posted for Halloween.

Someone asked earlier "where's Zook?" Well, I was involved in a car vs pedestrian (I was the pedestrian) on 10-18. That's what I get for trying to improve my health by jogging! The good news is- God is good, even to slubs like myself. Not only do I have my life, but the injuries were relatively minor. The tire ran over my left foot, breaking a couple of bones, tearing ligaments on both sides which caused the fibula to snap. Interestingly, the ER doc said I had a broken bone at the base of the middle toe and sent me home. It wasn't until the appointment with the orthopedic that the real damage was assessed. Took out the antennae with my shoulder, the side mirror with my forearm (incredibly no broken bones, just huge bruise and soft tissue damage) and dented the door with my hip most likely. Anyway, I had started a Halloween Horror 2 world, had a couple of levels completed (I was going to sneak in an entry at the deadline) when all this happened. I expect to be out of commission for a while, I am supposed to keep the foot elevated as much as possible, which makes computer work difficult. The hardest part has actually been more mental as I have been away from my classroom for a couple of weeks. Classes are being covered, but my ego won't let me believe that they are being taught as well as they would be if I were there! (Shame on me)

Glad to see four of you were able to rise to the challenge of HH2. I look forward to playing them when I get more mobile.

Well, I'm very glad you're doing alright! I hope you're able to recuperate in front of the lunatic editor soon - I'd go crazy if I was too pained to work on this stuff! But then again, it is my life... You have our sympathy, and don't forget about your retroactive Halloween Horror opportunities. Working on an add-on world is known by many doctors to be the perfect therapy for a speedy recovery. And the painkillers should make it a very creative one!

Here at Hamumu there was a collective "OOOhhhhhh my!" in your honor! I am so glad to hear that you are in relatively good shape. Please take care of yourself and get better soon. And the boss man says to tell you that in light of the situation if you would like to complete your world (after you are able to be at the computer but before you are able to be at work, of course) it would be possible to sneak it into the pack retroactively (those who download before it is in would have to re-download to get it). Please do! We would love to see your work!

Sending healing thoughts your way,

Sol

PS - I know what you mean about your class...they will manage but I am sure they will be happy to have you back!

Zook, I am so sorry to hear about your accident! As I was reading your description of the accident, I was trying to visualize it--did he get you from the back? I hope you heal fast. I do concur with Dr. Jamul and encourage you to get a padded swivel chair placed in front of your computer and a chair next to you with a pillow in it to put your poor injured foot on. I call it "The Dr. Lunatic Cure." I often need a quick fix myself--then I feel much better.

I always hated missing school when I was a teacher; the kids don't learn as much. However, I'm just in from a day of subbing--but this time I'm pretty sure the kids received the desired benefits. I taught elementary PE. Let's just say the kids were worn out when their teachers came to get them--and they had fun.

I hope you won't let this accident keep you from working out after you get better. I go to the YMCA 5 days a week and have never been hit by car while working out.

Thank you for all of your well-wishes and concern. I am mending. Thanks for the offer to slip in an HH2 world. I'll try to do something and submit it when possible (would Christmas be too late?). I do plan to finish it, although I doubt it will be as creative as the others from what I read in the forum this morning (not supposed to be up long enough to actually play the worlds). Also, if I get paroled on Thursday (if I've been a good boy and kept the foot up as directed they might let me out of the house and back to school!) I have a feeling that all of my spare time is going to be spent getting caught up on all the things that didn't get done while I was gone. Three weeks is a long time to let stuff pile up! What a shame, three weeks with ten hours of solitude to work, and all I'm allowed to do is lie on the couch and watch "The Other Half" and "The View". Think of what could have been accomplished!

Lisa, although I never lost conciousness, I also never saw the car (I've been told it was a 2000 Neon). I was struck while crossing a street (about 500 feet from the end of the run, no less!) so contact was made with the side of the vehicle (thank God!) and not the front. I guess we both sideswipped each other. The driver was an 18-year old girl on the way home from class at the community college across the street from my school.

OOOh, Zook! Just read this thread tonight, I hope you've done some more healing in the last 11 days. I've been there-done that myself (tiny Toyota vs. BIG Freightliner Transport - still don't know how I survived!) Healing can be a real pain (pun intended), but seriously, I decided that day NEVER again to worry about what I was missing and was anyone competent doing my job. I started focussing on all the things I had never done and wanted to do - made a big list and kept it in mind through MUCHO physiotherapy. Looking forward rather than worrying helped me heal as much as anything else. The big bonus all these years later is I've done and learned so much I probably never would have gotten around to! I must have suffered brain damage though, because I still can't figure out the most basic stuff on the Dr. L. editor (even with Mark's POP site). Keep positive! I'm sure your students can catch up!

Got the OK to return to the classroom last Monday. Sure was nice to get back to teaching (I forgot how much fun an overhead can be! [just not enough room to do many problems and leave them up]) instead of watching TV all day (although I do miss "The View" just a little - those ladies are funny!) and falling asleep reading.

Nothing but positive attitude at my house. I stopped feeling sorry for myself the day after I found out I would need a screw put in to stabilize the ankle while the ligaments healed. Just another of life's trials from which we learn and grow.
