Jamul and anyone smarter than me (doesn't take that much, somedays),

I am using Killmons to eliminate a mine cart when it hits a section of track. I replace the mine cart later with a swap map. When Bouapha encounters the mine cart, he walks right through as if it isn't there. Any ideas? (I tried Summon with the same results and the swap map trick worked elsewhere.)

Also, I am using the mine cart removable barricades (tripod of sticks) to block the track. I dropped item 0 to remove one. The tile still behaves as if it is impassable. (I did this since the above problem prevented Bouapha from riding the rails and I though he could at least get out on his own.) There is a teleport special on the tile as well.

Speaking of teleport, I get different results when I use the player step vs enemy step when Bouapha is on the mine cart when I want to teleport. Something to do with the Fun Pack? By different I mean one way gives good results and the other somewhat strange results even though the target (X,Y) is the same. (This is getting confusing even for me and I can edit the level!)

I spent an hour or so last night trouble shooting to no avail. I'm at the point where I will revamp what I am doing on the level to something simplier but not as much fun to watch just to complete the level.

It's all too deep for me, but the basic problem seems to be that you are trying to mess with the mojo of mine carts. They are mysterious, ancient and powerful, and not to be trifled with. I tried in my halloween world and had to change things as a result. I believe in theory that you should not ever destroy a cart that's being ridden (not positive about that, it might be okay), and definitely do NOT teleport bouapha or the cart he's on if he's riding one. I think if you teleport bouapha, he'll just go right back, because being on a mine cart means your coordinates are always the same as the mine cart. And if you teleport the cart... hmm, don't know. But I think that's what I tried, and it didn't work.

So the basic idea is not to do anything fancy when a mine cart is involved. I hope that is also the cause of your cartblock troubles.

Thanks for the reply. If the above query shows up in more than one place, it's because I kept getting an error when trying to start a new topic. It looks like it actually posted. Either that or Jamul moved it to its own thread. Either way, please disregard any duplicates.

I had a feeling it was something like that. It seems I find all sorts of interesting things when building levels that try to be a little out of the ordinary. Oh well, back to work!

What gets on my nerves about mine carts, they always run into walls and you're stuck there :( is there any way to avoid this?

Yes - don't put mine cart tracks next to walls. Check out www.pantsofpower.com for a tutorial showing every detail of how you can break minecarts (with walls that is).
