Well, another 48-hour contest has come and gone. My entry (plus some improvements made after the 48 hours was up) is up on the Free Gamelets page. You gotta try it! Then come back here and let me know what you thought. It's not for everybody, I know - it's very fast paced and twitch-oriented, with a lot of special moves to keep track of. But I think it's very fun. Try it NOW!

I downloaded it and had fun playing it! I need more manual dexterity! I tried the joystick and it works pretty well. When Ryan comes home from school I'll see how he does with it--better than I can! I think you could polish this game up and expand it and sell it. It kind of reminded me of an Aladdin game.
I have tried running it in a window (one of the choices when you start it up) but it runs full screen.
Mike, how's the novel going?

The novel is going nowhere... it stalled at about 3200 words. Too many important things to do! Maybe next november...
and hmm, windowed runs windowed on mine! Weird.

I downloaded it and tried playing it. It is fun, except I need coaching on high (or far?) jumping. (I don't know what it is about jumping, but I can't seem to get the hang of it in any game. BTW, we did finish Cookie and Cream and some of the levels in it were pure evil!)
And I know it does some fancy stuff, but I don't really know what I'm doing when it happens -- like the running jab. (I tried looking at the instructions, maybe I'm not looking hard enough or maybe I don't get what you named them or maybe I'd understand it better if it were written in Japanese, NOT!).
I did finish the first level! I tried many of the other levels, but I couldn't do the jumping thing so I got discouraged and quit. (I did try quite some time to master it, but maybe not long enough?)
It worked in window's mode OK for me.

Thanks Mike for the jumping tips.
I talked my husband into trying the game, and of course, he figured out the jumping stuff and explained what he did to me. He's better at the game than I am, he's actually won a couple of levels. But that doesn't mean I've given up!
He's still on a learning curve too! He said he thought it was fun to play.
Thanks.

Don't ask me about passing levels, I don't know which of the Doty levels I've passed, but I'm sure it's not all of them.
As for jumping high and far, what you need to do is jump, then at the peak of your jump, jump again (you can double jump). Then at the peak of that jump, double tap upwards. Then, when that ends, double tap to the side (whichever direction you're trying to go). That will get you very very far! But of course, it does require some serious finger twiddling. This is a game for the hyperactive set, like me.

It's not one of the hardest ones... you just have to do all the up-high stuff first - don't fall through any of the cracks. I hope you know by now about pogo-jumping: get above an object you want to destroy, and continuously tap down until it's destroyed (you'll bounce up after each hit). It only works well if you have a little bit of room vertically when you start, otherwise you might not have time to get your sword into position on each dive.

Well I know I'm not a natural born twiddler, but I'm trying. I've beaten all but two of the levels - Slaughterhouse Five and Doty Zone Beta, and I think on Delta I won on my first try (surprised me!).
I think I've got the moves down, but I can't beat them in the allotted time.
Now if there had been a Grasshopper, yellow belt (wimpy) option (meaning no time limit, or more time) then maybe I could have beat them.
And what am I doing when he says something about mustard? I think that's funny!
Well I've had a lot of fun playing this, though I'll probably never beat the last two levels.
Thanks Mikey!

Sure, you know I made it just for you. I'm very impressed - those two levels I've never passed either, except I passed Slaughterhouse Five using Gouma Hitsuki. Even that was a close. Doty Beta is much harder, I think. I got close with Gouma. He's the yellow belt option!
Something about mustard... hmm... sounds secret.

Thanks again Mikey!

I don't see why you think it's so hard, ANY of the levels. I wish I could beat Beta, though. I LOVE using left+left or up+up. Down+Attack reminds me of a spatula, don't ask. I like Gouma Hitsuji best. We can hit an enemy two times in a row, maybe even three! I beat half the game so far.

Oh never mind.
You use the Ctrl key instead of shift.
