OH NO!!! My almost-eight-year-old son went into the options and messed up the keyboard controls. The up arrown key and the right arrow key function, but the down and the left arrow keys fire slingshots or special weapons. When the main menu comes up, I can't get the computer to respond to going over to the Options section to fix the problem. How can I get to the Options menu screen? We hope we don't have to uninstall and reinstall as we have acquired about 10 badges (lots of hours on the computer!). If we do have to resort to a reinstall, can we somehow maintain our badges or our game in progress? I'm assuming these are kept in a file that perhaps I could copy to my desktop or on to a diskette and then reinstall.
What do you think?
Thank you so much for your help. We both love this game, but I'm one frustrated mother right now!

mom to Anthony (who isn't going to be messing with the Options function anymore! ;-))

I know the "loony.cfg" file holds badge etc. information and doesn't uninstall using the regular uninstall method, but does that configuration file also hold the keyboard controls one changes after initial installation of the game? Petra's dilemma got me thinking about that since my son and his friends frequently are mucking things up in other configurable software I use.

I tried to e-mail right away, but wasn't successful. Typical mother experience: trying to e-mail something, computer crashes, simultaneously siblings start a fight, then it dawns on you that you are ten minutes late for your daughter's violin class, so to **** with the computer. I do think a video game about being a mother could be very funny. Her quests could be finding the exact right food that her two-year-old wants (child keeps screaming "Mayee Chee" for those not versed in two-year-ese "Macaroni and Cheese") but in her way is a filthy kitchen, bills that need to be paid, and a cat that has just succeeded in puking on mom's toes. Anyone interested?
But anyhow:
So I guess mothers can fix most things!!! :-))
I luckily did not need to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling, somehow by pushing two of the arrow keys at the same time or in some sort of sequence, I was able to get to the options screen and fix the menu. Anthony had basically wedded the left and down arrow (movement) keys with the fire and weapon keys. I wonder if you might want to make it impossible to have one key function for more than one thing at a time, do you follow?
Petra
much happier now
Anthony has promised not to ever go to the Options screen again! The fear of mother's disapproval has prevailed!!!

Yes, it does - if you've already got all the badges, you're fine, because you know the secret cheat (if you don't, just sit at the title screen for a while to see it). If you don't have them all yet, then you better just make regular backups of it! Deleting it is the solution to messed up keys (it creates a new one with defaults automatically), but of course you lose all your badges if you do that. So be careful with that config file...
