Oh, I've seen a few . . . off the top of my head, here are some things that I'm ashamed to have spent money on. . . . All my opinions here, of course, though some of these are quite relicy.

Outpost (Sierra, circa 1993) -- Plot tree, tech tree, or similar bugs such that the game is unwinnable as bought in store. They patched it and IIRC it was still unwinnable.

(now flipping through cd case)

Ascendancy (Logic Factory, 1995) -- Not really bad, don't remember it well, but I had some fun for a while. I vaguley remembering the AI being so stupid it became boring quickly, and then I got Master of Orion 2, which seemed to surpass it in every category for being a space strat game also.

Witchhaven (Capstone/Intracore, and i've never heard of either again. Seems to be from before they started putting copyright dates on CDs O.o) -- One of the very first fantasy first person shooters, just all around mediocre in all aspects. If an equivelent was relased today it would be a perfect example of a no-risk generic mainstream clone. Oh wait, it did have one absoltuly unique feature that I've never seen in another game. Pereodically, a ghostly face of the end boss zooms at you, wailing, overlayed in the center of your screen. It's sort of like those pictures people have put online, that say "stare at the door in the back and you'll see something", and then after five minutes (when you're really intently focused on it and wondering what you're missing), flashes a person, and possibly worse, plays a random loud sound. Ever been suckered by one of those? You now know why my brother uninstalled this game after the first hour or two and refused to ever touch it again ;).

Total Annihilation Kingdoms (Cavedog, R.I.P, 1999) -- Not a bad game of itself, but as a sequel it's far inferior to the original, and I felt suckered when I later learned some of the what was going on with the company when they made it (things like, all the devs that mattered for the first game leaving.)

Delta V (Bethesda, 1994) -- VR-themed "trench-run" game, bland and pointless. It's also the hardest time I've ever had getting a game to run under DOS, as it wants exactly 600kb of core memory free AND it needs certain drivers available . . .

Space Bunnies Must Die (Ripcord, 1998) -- I got it for free and I almost feel ripped off. On the other hand, I need to install it and try it someday just on the theory that it may be so utterly stupid it's Bad Movie funny . . .

LOTR 1 & 2 RPGs (Interplay, 1990) -- Nasty evil bad old-style RPGs. They never made a Return, either . . .

Command Adventures: Starship (Future Vision, 1993) -- Sort of a star-control-ish game -- any indie/amatuer game at alpha stage i've seen is at least as finished as this.

That's all that still lives in my CD case. I'm sure I could come up with more eventually.

Oh yeah, one of the biggest: Magic the Gathering: Battlemage (circa 1994, no idea who made it but /I want my five minutes back!/ (it dosn't take much longer to determine that it's crap, though you keep trying for a while hoping that the intution is wrong . . . )) Basically, an unplayably (for me anyway) bad realtime strategy game based on the magic cards. The MtG game relased by microprose about the same time (and particuarly the Deuls of the Planeswalkers add-on) just makes this look . . . bad. Plus the microprose version was actually an implementation of, y'know, the /card game/, not a different game loosly based on it. It's sort of like comparing Dr. L. SwC with NPC Quest, except that NPC Quest is actually, er, fun . . .

Anyway, I should probably stop ranting and get on with the sending-resumes-outness.

Monkey Magic
(It's as dumb as it sounds. I got ripped off even though it was freeware)

drgamer
06-16-2004, 07:22 AM
That's not freeware, it's a playstaion game, you must have gotten a crappy rom or something(Trust me, I've seen it in a list of playstation games, so if you got it as freeware, somethings wrong)

Coolguy

I just HATE this one...

Spiro, Enter the Dragonfly

It is the WORST GAME EVER. The graphics are crappy, the sounds are unrealistic and really bad, it's a total ripp off ($99.95), the plots ridiculous, and most of all.., IT IS SO BORING!

Coolguy

The earlier Spyro Games were great though.

You bought it for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!?!?!?!!. I didn't, I got it around $20 (on ebay)

It's best to look for the cheaper places (Oh if it's Spiro and not Spyro, then it's most likely fake)
It's a little better in gamecube version, to bad the series took a sharp turn on that game(When a company conversion happens, things get crappy for the next products(in this example, games) Don't worry, it will get better(unless it gets crappier)

Action 52. It is so horrible, words fail. It's an old Nintendo game made by Active Enterprises (the only game they ever made). Insted of one bad, horribly glichy game, there are 52. All of them were crappy. And get this: the original price was 200$. Yes, 200$, which means 4$ a game. But none were worth a dime! I only downloaded it on a ROM.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
It's like one of those crappy sports games that stores sell for 5$, but the problem is that it's like 10% done. If I remember correctly, it was developed for $14,000. Look for the review on Gamespot of it to find how horribly bad it is.

In India my cousin showed me a game cartrige for an Indian game system which claimed to be a 100000 in 1 game pack. 99.99% of the games were either individual levels of other games, the same game with slightly different backrounds, or repeats. In addition to this, ALL of the games had 2D, 16-color, poor resolution graphics with nearly pointless objectives. And worst of all, the price was Rs. 4000, about $100, which is a ton of money in India.

Action 52 has to be hundreds of times better than this.

P.S. ALL the games and game systems in India are money wasters.

Any of the Mah Jong solitare games. I thought it was going to be the actual game with four players, but instead it was just a pyramid of tiles that you clicked on. What a waste of money!

The other games I hate are the ones that feel like the developers still believe that they are programming arcades. Billy Hatcher is my favorite example. In order to beat the game, you need to beat each individual level in a very short time. There are also hidden secrets that are impossible to find. (Billy Hatcher wasn't a complete waste though, it had a good multiplayer mode)

One of the games I don't like that I can think of is one that I played a long time ago. It was Croc 1. The graphics were bad,The controls were way too hard to get used to, and the camera was always at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I have 3 games for PS2 that I would eventually like to sell

The first is a drag-racing game by Bethesda (the same people that brought you the Elder Scroll series that includes Oblivion). I don't see how anyone can find driving in a straight line interesting (unless it's actually happening). However, sometimes it was mildly amusing to make the truck spin around hundreds of times.

Then theres Tom and Jerry. its a fighting game that dosen't hold my interest for more than 3 minutes.

Then it Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. But I at least plan to complete that first.

Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets, for Gameboy Advance, is the single worst game I have ever played.
