Rented the first one...
It's not crap, it's just a transition between old and new...
Oh and if you think it's crap, than have you played beyond the first level? first levels are usually worse than the acual game.

At first it was pretty bad but when you get farther it gets better. The music , camera, and how the characters are kind of annoying are the only downsides I found.

Also, the sequel isn't anything like the old game. In the old game, Pacman lived in house. In the new game, he lives in a hut. Back then, Pooka was good and now he's evil.
