Question about this new-fangled "challenge mode"

I like the idea of challenge mode. It seems to be inspired by the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games (collecting the letters especialy)

Anyway, can you travel between chapters and replay levels in the new version? That would certainly make it a lot better for getting secrets and unlocking the afformention challenge mode.
