You may remember a few months ago, I set up a Poll asking what people thought would be best for my cheesey game.
Well, I have done some drawing and just quickly come up with this 1 level demo you may like to try.
I know it isn't that good, and at the moment there isn't any sound, but this is just a start!!!

Download it from www.freewebs.com/fatcrowgames

P.S. A proper Tutorial will follow shortly!

Darn freewebs keeps returning me to this thread without downloading... I'll try to download it from the website and may edit my opinion into this post later.

EDIT: Why is this downloading at 10 kilobytes per second? O_o

EDIT 2: The .exe file seems to be broken, I can't start it and when I right-click the archive and choose "extract all", it says "Error reading the file"...

Mine is downloading at a sluggish 2 kilobytes per second. To give you an idea of how slow that feels, I can approach 500 on a good day.

SpiderPumpkin, it comes up as a standard Game Maker executable when I run it. You shouldn't need to "extract" anything. Maybe you downloaded the wrong file, or the file was corrupted somehow.

I downloaded it, and it works fine for me.

The direct link jumps me here and when I do download the zip the exe won't extract.

OK, forget the direct-link. It won't work unless you right click, save target as. Problems with the zip file? That's the wrong game! The one you want is 'A Cheese Adventure'. I hope this sorts out the confusion.

Yes, that was the problem :-P But that's what happens if you create a thread about a game and neither post a working direct link nor mention the game's name :-P That file's downloading at 2 KB/s, btw. I'll edit my opinion into this here post when it finishes downloading in a few years.

EDIT: Okay, so maybe that was sooner than expected...
So I start this game and the first thing I see is plain graphics. With no animations. Things like that already make me want to Alt+F4 and delete. I still keeped playing. But, why is their no music and no sound? Well, so I actually tried doing something. Even though I don't know Game Maker, the jumping/falling engine was good for the most part (better than the engine from that pumpking game by far), but if you press against a wall, the cheese stays in the air as long as you do that. The mice really need some graphical effect for getting stomped, and so does the cheese when he touches an enemy. Are the leaves just for decoration or is there a way to make them do something? The Thwomp-like enemy could've just as well been left out, it doesn't pose an actual danger. All in all, the game was really easy and there wasn't much variety. Try to include some actual challenges instead of just a few mice which you can stomp in the next version, there's many fun things you can put into a Jump'n Run game. Maybe take a look at other games and see what they did to make the game more fun. While this will most certainly involve much more programming, it will also make the game much more playable.

All I wanted was to see if people liked the idea,
The characters,
The tile designs,
And other stuff!!!

1. Yes, that was the problem :-P But that's what happens if you create a thread about a game and neither post a working direct link nor mention the game's name :-P

5. Are the leaves just for decoration or is there a way to make them do something?

7. All in all, the game was really easy and there wasn't much variety. Try to include some actual challenges instead of just a few mice which you can stomp in the next version.

1. The game doesn't actually have a proper name yet!

2. Like I said, These were just quickly made up characters!

3. Haven't made any music yet, soon will though..

4. I'll sort that out.

5. They are sort of there for deco. but are also there to stop the mice floating off branches!!

6. It's a grater and we moved the one at the top across one space just to make it easier to win the level!

7. The next few levels will be harder!

Thanks for sort of reviewing my game for me!

P.S. Sorry About editing your post in my quote, it helped me answer your queeries.

I know what it is, it just behaves a bit like a Thwomp. It would've been to hard for the first level if you had kept it in that place, but moving it to the left put it in a place where you don't even have to go so you might have just as well removed it from the level. Btw, does cheese eat apples? o_o

Errr.....

That is, of course, the 'win level' symbol at the moment, but I am changing it.

The health supply will, in the end, become a slice of Pepperoni pizza.
The 'win level' symbol, I have planned as being a sign post with an arrow pointing the way to where you will appear in the next level.

Thanks for taking interest. :P
