Has anyone ever tried making a game with one of them (2000, 2003 or XP)? I remember TEM tried once. I did too, but the only thing I could do was make monsters.

YES! :-D All of them! :-D I've never actually finished a game, though... :-P But I have started a game which I still sometimes work on, I might even complete a full version of that one once :-P Maybe in about 37 years...
Anyway, I'm rather experienced in the RPG Maker, I programmed some nice scripts for my games and such... I've even once programmed a platform game with the RM, a demo of which could once be downloaded at my site (when I still had my advent calender up...).

You know, It would be nice if we could get some people together and make a RPG. I know how to make monsters, items, characters ect.

Erm, the RPG Maker doesn't work that way, at least not if you don't program your own battle system (which, as it seems, won't be done); the standard battle system is turn based and you tell the Heros what to do; Monsters & Heros all have an Attack and a Defense value, which determine how much damage they cause/take. In addition, a Mind value can change how much damage spells casted by the Monster/Hero will do and if he Monster/Hero hits the target is hit hit by the enemy depends on an Agility value. BTW, are you using an imported version of the Maker? I sure hope you are, as any downloaded version would be illegal to use...
