I have cracked the code and found out where the quote is from however when I enter the name of the person who famously speaks this quote it is not accepted :?

You weren't asked for the person who said the famous quote.. ;)

But it says "If I said exactly this, what would my name be?"

Correct. It says "If I said exactly this, what would my name be?"

EDIT: I should note - the two posts preceding mine are both entirely correct...

I just got this one myself a few minutes ago, let me say you have to do to the answer what you undid to the riddle. Not sure if that helps any.

how do you find out what the words mean?

the words were composed by a famous english writer, and written down by someone who doesn't know how to write.

If you can't be bothered solving the cipher manually here's a good set of solvers that I found.

Thanks to LaBlueSkuld for helping me out with the last twist.. :-)

Which code program do I use? Because if its the keyword one we need to know the word and I cant find any other program that solves it... Could someone just PM me a good hint to decode it.

Hullo!

I have deciphered the message and I know the correct answer, but I am left with a remaindered letter in the answer (in the normal translation) for which I do not know the corresponding cipher. Does this mean I have done something horribly wrong? I cannot find any "official" ciphering systems to help me on my quest. Advice appreciated.

UPDATE: Never mind. I am an idiot. Wasn't paying attention to the background picture. And also, it seems, don't know how to type. Or read.

Remember, as Hammered noted, the hint in the puzzle says

"If I said exactly this, what would my name be?"

Is the decoding a sequence (for example add 2 to the first letter remove 3 from the next letter)? or is it a one to one substitution ( exampl s=k and v=i)?

emandel

It's a one-letter substitution.

You need to find out what kind of encryption is being used. Once you know what the encryption is, then you can figure out the plain text. Solving for the plain text can be done with pencil and paper, but there are online tools that will spit out the plain text immediately. Find out what Bruce Schneier writes each month.

I found that the link listed in the previous post didn't work - so here's a site that has a cracker that works really well for this puzzle:

http://www.wordplays.com/p/index

Also, some advice for anyone stuck at the VERY end of this puzzle - keeping trying even if you think your final answer is crazy!

For the end, keep the original quote in mind, as you first saw it
