......
small talk

Casual or trivial conversation, chitchat, as in We stood around making small talk until the guest of honor arrived. The small in this expression alludes to unimportant subjects of conversation, as opposed to serious or weighty ones. [Mid-1700s]

I can not tell you how many times I've wanted to do that. And I'm being serious too.

Yeah. You know what I hate:
When people say "I could care less" thinking it means I couldn't care less"

But if they could care less, doesn't it mean it's not that boring?

 "It's not THAT bad. I mean I could care less..." (or something)

Exactly, you used it right, but people say:
"Look, I got a high score on Pumpkin Pop!"
"That's boring. I could care less."

The other day, my trainee English teacher changed where I'd written:
"Its theme of..." to "It's theme of..."
I know that's a daft grammar rule, but she could at least have known I'd done it right originally.

I used to have a completely incompetent teacher that was constantly making mistakes and had no idea how to explain stuff well. A lot of us kept trying to correct her but she either didn't understand us or got mad, saying we were being rude. It made me so mad beacause I knew I could be doing a way better job than her. I hope the schoolboard realizes what a bad teacher she is someday...

Just be glad you don't have HER.

EDIT: Wow. AtkinsSJ added a quote from me to his signature! That makes me glow with pride.

Well, I had a big empty space in my sig. The quote will remain until I find another one, which I think is funnier.
