Twenty two people seem to think this is easy or average, but I can't get any purchase on the problem. What's the reversed alphabet all about? Why are B and A in red? What does the direction of the cat's eyes signify?

Any hits appreciated.

Hmm. Not sure of too many hints to give that wouldn't be TOO much.

The direction of the cat's eyes IS important. You just have to know what it means.

I didn't really even say anything new, but maybe that might nudge you in the right direction.

I found it quite easy, but then again, I recognized the answer right off the bat. It's a bit harder if you don't, but nothing a little Google shouldn't cure...

I don't understand it either. I tried Googling, and Baka na neko means 'Stupid the cat', or something. Is that related?

I didnt get anything from the title. it was the alphabet that tipped me off. rather, it was specific letters.

'Baka na neko' proves remarkably resistant to googling; if there's some sort of anime/manga cultural reference here that helps, I have no idea what it is or where to look.

But, the cat's eyes are important. Gotta think more of the message that you can get from the eyes.

this puzzle is defenitely easier for those familiar with the answer. You should be able to get it with hints already given in this thread and some googling though.

Here's a hint...it has to do something with a game company...and some meme they started that's all over the web...which one? Not telling. Just look at the direction of the eyes and the alphabet...close...

I didn't know about this, but you mentioned video games, I saw the eyes, did some research, and figured out the answer.

Woohoo! I've finally got some points and I can unlock some puzzles. I'm on a roll! I'm clawing my way back to the world records list! Also, I'm discovering how ingenious some of these puzzles are. How does he come up with this stuff?

I don't think there's too much else to be said that won't give away too much.

The message that you get from the puzzle (even just from the cat part) won't make too much sense if you don't know what the message means.

As said earlier, it definitely helps if you are a video game geek, though it's definitely of the older sort, as it's not too common anymore.

All I can say, is google for whatever message you can get from the cats. If it's right, you should be able to tell, though you'll have to do a bit more research to find out exactly what it means and what it IS.

i can't believe i solved much harder puzzles and im still stuck on this "stupid cat" puzzle!
i dont quiet get what ur supposed to get from the eyes! i noticed the direction but they mean nothing for me rite now! what do i have to get to make it a bit more meaningful? help plz :cry:

Just have to say, this puzzle would be stupid enough if it weren't for the fact that you have to wade through pages and pages of stuff about a band called that before you get to anything worthwhile, and then through pages of people arguing over exactly what the correct answer is.

This is hardly common knowledge, and is no longer easily searchable on Google, if it ever was.

Anyone not getting this puzzle after looking at all the hints ... well I was raised to speak kindly, so I'll with hold. These puzzles aren't fun if you have to have someone tell you in a PM how to solve them. Don't give up and be creative and try everything. Don't contra-dict yourself.

When I looked at this I knew the answer right away - at least I thought. The directions and letters could actually signify different effects in different situations. I had to Cheat to add lives to the picture!

I understood everything that the picture puzzle was telling after staring at it for like 30 minutes. I am positive that I "got" what the point of the puzzle was. I am very gamerly inclined. I just haven't been too sucessful on typing in the right answer. Or so to say... I've tried lots of combinations of what I figure the answer should be, but all of 'em are wrong so far.

Surely you shouldn't have to go to the forum at all? If the puzzle doesn't contain all the information you need to solve it, it's a bad puzzle.

I recognized immediately what it was, but I didn't know which, er, one it was referring to specifically, so I had to Google it.

If you want to wade through the [profanity removed] with that band, type -lyrics -band -song after your search queries to eliminate any results with those words in them.

Cats have multiple lives. The answer's about multiple lives (but no, the answer is not nine).

Plus, you've ever seen those cat clocks where the eyes move left and right and left and right repeatedly? I think it's a double joke on the concept to start with.

The answer to this one is easily searchable on google, even if you don't know where it came from.

Just follow the cat's eyes.

Remember, if you put "quotes around multiple words" in google, it will find that exact phrase...

I did a search on the results of the cat (completely ignoring the alphabet) just to see what would come up, and a link to an excellent source was right at the top.

You just have to be creative (and a bit literal?) with your googling :)

Is everything you need in this puzzle? No, but that's not the POINT of these puzzles; for most of them, you WILL need to gather information based on the CLUES in the puzzle :) And with this puzzle, you can get the answer directly by searching based on the clues.

The art of googling involves including multiple terms, not just typing in what you see. I added one word to what I presume you are googling, and I got the answer without even clicking any of the results, it was right there in the second entry.

It wouldn't be a puzzle if your goal was just to google what you see!

I play this a bit and its pretty good except for google. its no help at all in m opinion. there should be a wikipedia link or something... :|

I got this as soon as I saw the red BA.
I had a relapse back to the late 80's... again...
Suddenly the eyes made sense and I got the answer.

*Puzzle solved*

That was NOT easy! But it wasn't that hard either. Here's a tip: ignore the alphabet and Google the motion of the cat's eyes. It'll take a little bit of reading (and for those of you who were about about ten 27 years ago, maybe some memories), but you'll get it eventually.

It was one of the easiest ones so far for me- It was really funny, too. :p Thanks, Kingdom of Loathing, for telling me about the mysterious information that made this puzzle easy.

i really enjoyed this one... probably because i solved it in a couple seconds, it definitely helps knowing your video games... the letters at the bottom are also very important, make sure not to ignore them
