Even just a hint on how to deal with the letter groups would be most helpful. Are they supposed to represent a single letter in a word, or what? Graaaar!

i think figuring out the idea of the puzzle is the only real work for this!... once u do that out u can find something else to fill in everything for u!

I'm pretty sure I know how to solve it, but it'll take a bit of work to do. I think it'd help me to print it out, and get out a pencil.

This is not a common type of crossword puzzle as far as I can tell, but I'm going to give a hint that no one has been nice enough (jerks!) to give before to nudge people in the right direction. Secondly, you'll want to do an 'I'm Feeling Lucky' on 'crossword solver' to make life easy, unless you love crosswords. Ok, in the top left you have (going vertically top to bottom) _ (HE|AR)_. What you need to do is find something that solves BOTH sets of letters. To make it clearer, you need to fill in the two blanks such that _HE_ makes sense, and_AR_ makes sense. I recommend you start from this top left position because once you get to __(UN|SE)_ and __(HY|KS) things get a little tricky.
Also on _(OO|RI)_ and __(AZ|OW)___, go with the first choice (alphabetically) for the last blank (that's a pretty big hint, but it just saves a tiny bit of trial and error when you get to that point).
Can anyone provide help on 9, 14, 24, 29, 31, 37, 40? Please PM me some BIG hints, I can't go any further on any of them.

This one is a last one for me.
I know what to do. But......
I'm really stuck. It incerdibly hard to solve that one if your english is a second language.
Some words a really rare. So I'm stiil not even close to half of solving. I'm afraid that even after filling all sockets I will get wrong numbers.
Updated: I finally got by myself, with a little help from crowbar. Yes-yes-yes.

I've filled in the grid, but I can't find anyone born on the date that I come up with? Could someone PM me so that I can verify what I've gotten is correct, or did I come up with an alternate solution to the words? Thanks

Okay, this may seem dumb to others, but the punctuation in this puzzle confused me for the longest time. And don't get me wrong, I'm terrible at punctuation. This is one of those rare one in a hundred instances where I was actually paying attention and was misled. There should not be apostrophes after the letters at the bottom of the puzzle. "G's" should be "Gs" etc.
