Thumbs up GOG.com Weekly Releases

This site is quite exciting to me, because games are (re)-released every Tuesday and Thursday, and much discussion takes place in their threads upon release day. I thought I'd share what GOG has been releasing, starting with this week. (Maybe generate some discussion, maybe not; we'll see). (I was able to post a Fallout image in this sub-forum that wasn't deleted, and maybe if I keep the images small, the mods will let me continue doing that...)

Anyways, 5/22/12-

was released. A new game, but GOG is now about DRM-free in general (well, still re-releasing, but also including new games), so Remedy jumped on the bandwagon and released both this and the original Alan Wake here. (Both ~$15 for a limited time)

In addition...

was released. (Fantasy-adventure game, and sequel to the first "The Longest Journey") $15.

I found it hard to find an actual definition of GOG even on the site.
My best guess is 'Good Old Games' but... I'm really not sure...

It probably says it in huge print somewhere that I'm just missing :P

They're actually trying to "move on" from Good Old Games, because they've started selling new stuff. But yes, Good Old Games was the original meaning.

Today's (5-24-12) release -

+ the expansion pack

City-building game from '99, set in the ancient Egypt. $10

"Classic PC video games, free or cheap, downloaded direct to your desktop from GOG.com. Look at our catalog of 300+ games from many different publishers."

That's what it says, I think.

Couple of things:

Carmageddon
is coming in the near future (to promote the Kickstarter of Carmageddon: Reincarnation).

Here's the Weekend Promo (50% off everything): http://www.gog.com/promo/digital_box_of_fun And

And "CD Projekt RED Group Summer Conference live ... on the 30th May 2012 at 5:00 PM GMT." (It will be embedded and viewable on GOG.)

Gah! So much happened over the past few days.

Well, I'll just mention this weekend's sale: the entire Ultima series and Wing Commander series, each 3 bucks, or ~ $27 for everything.

I felt I should point out that the GoG newsletter has informed me that an old favorite of mine, Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is on sale for half off ($4.99) for the week.

It's basically an RTS where you control a small set of characters trying to accomplish missions in the world of Robin Hood. The storyline can branch based on how you go about completing missions. The actual gameplay is a seamless blend of stealth, combat, and tactics and IMO it's definitely worth the $5 (maybe not quite the $10 it is not on sale).
