Default Humongous Entertainment games music extractor

(Side-note: http://nimbusgames.com/ has released updated versions of a few Humongous classics, compatible with iOS and Android, soon.)

So I don't know how many current members remember Humongous Entertainment classics like Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, or Spy Fox, but I grew up with and loved those games, and I believe when I first started coming here people mentioned their enjoyment of these games too. One thing to enjoy was the music; it was kinda funky - strange but cool - and was (afaik) composed by Jeremy Soule before he went on to do epic stuff, like Elder Scrolls.

I was doing some research on the games, hoping to see a PC re-release somewhere like GOG.com (hey Jamul ), and came across this nifty little tool for extracting the music from the games. You'll need 1) that tool and 2) .HE4 files (1 per disk, usually about 20 or 40 megs) from the original game disks, copied off the disk to your computer . (Humongous was apparently consistent in their data placement.)

All you really need to do is download the tool, open it, browse for the .he4 file, browse for a place to stick the extracted .wav files (I'd recommend a new folder, as a LOT of files are extracted), and click extract. Most of the games seem to have 50 - 80 tracks of :30 - 2:30 songs. If there's a special song you remember, you could always find it and delete the rest.

Anyways, happy memories!

Sweet, lemme know what happens. I've been nostalgializing all over the place, having extracted music from 3 Freddi Fish games, 3 Pajama Sam games, 2 Putt-Putt, and Spy Fox Dry Cereal. The music all should be 88 kbps, so not hi-qual at all, but of course one listens for the memories and charm, allowing oneself to be drawn backward to a "simpler" time.

I completely forgot about those! I loved Freddie Fish and Pajama Sam!
Although, they won't run on my computer :/

Thanks for the tool, I'll look into it later.

I know Freddy Fish and Pajama Sam only because of the demos on the original Backyard Baseball CD I got in my cereal box. That was quite possibly the best cereal prize ever. The music I want to get's off of Backyard Baseball 2003, but I got that from the library and I don't think they're doing the lend-a-game thing anymore like they used to. Pity.
