Okay, I've boiled things down a little, so to speak. I'm still stumped.

Don't space out - you may have to go back to some grade school maths to work out the formula. And of course, once you recognize the answer in it's rather unusual form, it's as easy as pie.

I got this answer, but it was more of a guess than anything... Could someone send me a message explaining the initial steps in the problem?

Is it anything to do with Primary School Curriculum, or is that completely off-track?

As noted by others, simplify, simplify, simplify.
Once you have that, thinking in many different dimensions will likely help. |

When "thinking mathematically" should I consider each word or individual letters?

I'm probably closer to any of you to grade school math, but I'm apparently thinking too big. Can someone just PM me the answer?

If you've gotten that far, think about what they could mean in the context of everything you've been given for the puzzle.

I don't get it. What do my two letters and the context of 'jungle sounds' have to do with each other?? I'm starting to hate this puzzle

That's all you got is two letters? *nothing* else???
As for the hints, I'm not sure myself. What does Jungle Sounds and the background have to do with it? I'd like to hear from Jamul if these were in fact meant to help with the puzzle, or just a reference to the starting words. If you simplify this properly, and do a bit of searching, you should eventually find something. Some of these puzzles are meant to be hard... There's no satisfaction in solving every puzzle in 5 minutes. R |

It would be nice to have solved one within 5 minutes. :? Would like to narrow this one down to a simple google. Got two letters and a number. So after reading the thread I think I'm not even close to solving this one. Or am I overlooking the obvious answer (again)? |

If you have 2 letters and a number, think about what those may mean in context of EVERYTHING you've been given in the puzzle.
As a smaller hint, the background picture is more to mesh with the theme of the puzzle, but the title is worth a thousand words alone. |

someone please get me going somehow.. I have up to two letters and a number, but 'Jungle Sounds'? What the heck is that? Animal sounds? Welcome to the Jungle? are the two letters some sort of initials? what's the number doing there? I have too many questions!!!! someone please help me!!!! if any further hint would be too much to just post on this thread, I sincerely ask for a PM from any kind Samaritan out there.

I found the answer, but I don't think I entirely understand why the puzzle was constructed the way it was. My understanding of math is very poor, so maybe I can't find the equation I'm getting... so here are my hints for those who just don't know anything about math:
1. The hint in the title should make you concentrate on the second word, ignore the first. 2. And then look at it like it might be an equation. What equation does it look like? 3. I just have to say, forget about apes, forget about the jungle, forget about the word "rate." As for the intended use of all the information, I can see how to "simplify" the equation, but what I get in the end as the "numerator" doesn't make sense in the context of the answer, as far as I can tell. Can someone tell me [massive spoiler]? [no they can't! Except via PM!]

I have done the grade school math thing and get my 2 letters and a number but I am completely lost as to what they mean. I have looked around the web and I get some things related to sound but nothing meaningful. Any PM help would be greatly appreciated!

Add this one to the list of puzzles where I found the solution without understanding the puzzle - I just ended up with something that looks like something else and entered that in, but I don't know how this puzzle really works. If anyone wants to PM me the full solution, I'd be delighted.
