Default Wierd Acting Pets?

Last night my cats were running up and down the halls, looking outside, and bugging me to go downstairs. I eventually gave in because all I could think of is that they had wanted food or something. When I made my way to our front door/basement entrance, they stopped, and looked outside. I had the horrible feeling I was being watched. (I had just watched a video of the SNES game Clock Tower: The First Fear, which didn't help) I couldn't see anything, however, so I quickly fed the cats and went back upstairs. In the morning, I was told someone had tried to steal our barbecue, but they ran off when they saw I was downstairs. Needless to say, our cats got some Tuna for their persistence.

Has anyone has a similar experience when their pet has acted strange, only to find out a surprising reason later?

P.S. I know they were acting oddly because of the thief as my cats ignored the food I gave them. My cats never ignore getting more food. Never.

P.S.S. I did not expect the Scissorman to be outside, but it did cross my mind.

My dog acts like Jay Leno. That's a pet acting as a weirdo. Or a weird acting pet!

It definitely is, that's why nobody uses it.

EDIT: On-topic, I don't have any pets atm. I used to have two budgies a long time ago, but they never did anything interesting -o_-o
