Music Suggestions

So I need some new music to listen to and was wondering what people here like listening to. I know there was a thread like this before about favorite songs and stuff...but what music do you listen to that you would suggest for other people to listen to?

...and many more, but those and probably the ones I like the most and would recommend for others.

Stuff I listen to and would recommend? Celtic folk songs, mediaeval sounding midis (not sure exactly where to find those, though Bjørn Lynne has some great songs on his website), video game soundtracks (particularly Plok, the Donkey Kong Country series, Super Bomberman 2, The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse and The Lord of the Rings for SNES) :D

Lately I've been listening to Drive-by Argument(Some Scottish band? Kind of techno-ish, but I like it) and The Spinto Band(Their CD, Nice and Nicely Done.)

Red Hot Chili Peppers album Stadium Arcadium is very nice, as is anything Muse does and "The Bedlam in Goliath" by The Mars Volta.

This may be off topic, but the story behind The Bedlam in Goliath is actually quite interesting.

On a trip in Jerusalem, Rodriguez-Lopez purchased an archaic ouija-type talking board at a curio shop as a gift for Bixler-Zavala. They would return to their tour bus after shows to play with it during their 2006 tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as it quickly became the band's post-show ritual. Dubbed "The Soothsayer", the board revealed stories, gave names and made demands, as the band was contacted by three different people who appeared in the form of one, who was then referred to as "Goliath". The more the band had interacted with "The Soothsayer", otherworldly coincidences began plaguing the band's experience writing and recording The Bedlam in Goliath: Blake Flemming—their current drummer at the time—had quit mid-tour and left the band with financial troubles; Bixler-Zavala wound up needing surgery performed on his foot due to the shoes he had been wearing, forcing him to relearn how to walk post-surgery; audio tracks sporadically and literally disappeared off the screens; Rodriguez-Lopez's home studio flooded and had been subject to multiple power outages; and the album's original engineer had gone through a nervous breakdown, leaving behind all previous work with no notes as to where anything was. The engineer who quit stated to Rodriguez-Lopez: "I'm not going to help you make this record. You're trying to do something very bad with this record, you're trying to make me crazy and you're trying to make people crazy."
Rodriguez-Lopez was nearly on the brink of starting over from scratch, but instead kept on with the recruitment of Robert Carranza as the replacement engineer, along with assistance from Lars Stalfors and Isaiah Abolin. Midway through the recording sessions, Rodriguez-Lopez broke "The Soothsayer" in half and buried it in an undisclosed location as an attempt to undo the curse and halt the unforeseen tragedies, who ended the ordeal by swearing never to give away the whereabouts of its burial, and also asking the band not to speak of it again during the remainder of the album's production.
The song "Soothsayer" contains field recordings that Omar recorded in Jerusalem. The recordings are a mixture from the Jewish Quarter, the Muslim Quarter and the Christian Quarter.

EDIT: Oh yeah, "Tell Me Baby" and "Dani California" are good Red Hot Chili Peppers songs.

Athlete, who are some random British band few people have heard of. 'You Got the Style' has the best lyric ever: Oh, it's getting hot in here! Must be something in the atmosphere!' Classic. Their music is... odd, with a lot of it synthesized, but they're awesome.
Coldplay, already mentioned a lot.
I've been listening to the Beatles and Electric Light Orchestra recently too. Old stuff for the win!

Actually, my taste in music is pretty random. I would recommend They Might Be Giants, but most people I've gotten to listen to their songs think they're ridiculous. But 'The Else', their newest album, is more... normal, I guess, but still really odd.

Ah yes, I can recommend those as well. Oh, and any film scores composed by Danny Elfman (Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas, the Simpsons theme, etc.).

Lol, thought so :D I made those xD Sorry for off-topicness (somewhat), it's just funny how it seems that at every forum on the whole internet there's at least one person who has heard at least one of my stupid Robotnik songs. I've even seen them listed as people's favourite songs on MySpace xD

Why would anyone pull tha moon out of its oarbit? :D Yeah, I made that, but it's not a song, so I don't know what it's doing here. (Though it has a song from the Care Bears movie in it. Ah, yes, Care Bears songs. They're strangely awesome, imo.)

btw, The 13th Anthology is still good on it's own. It's played with classic instruments, and is six minutes of awesomeness long!

System of a Down, provided you're not the type to interpret every song you hear into some deep meaning... and are of a mature age. (some of their songs can get pretty quirky if you listen to the words)
