Kingston Elite Perish in Plane Crash
Just after six o'clock yesterday evening, the Bombadier Challenger in which
five elite Kingston businessmen were returning from an economic summit lost
control during turbulence, killing everyone aboard. In addition to the pilot,
the casualties were Erik Meuser, CEO, Neil Perham, CFO and Lance Mendelson,
President of Kingston Financial, as well as Max Dulmage and Allan Swims, co-
founders of Elite Technologies. They were all highly influential individuals in
Kingston, having heavily campaigned for the Mayor and Governor, in addition
to being involved with local and regional politics themselves. Police have ruled
the death an accident, even though the flight recorder has not been found, due
to the radio broadcasts by the pilot before the crash. They are each survived by
their children, who are also part of the up-and-coming Kingston elite. A private
service will be held on September 1 for friends and family of the deceased at
Nehaufer Funeral Home in downtown Kingston.

Police Chief: Crime Rates on the Rise
According to the Kingston Chief of Police, ever since the untimely plane crash
earlier this month that killed high-ranking Kingston businessmen, crime rates
have been steadily on the rise, expected to reach to 5.5% by year's end.
"The late Messrs Dulmage, Mendelson, Meuser, Perham and Swims were
instrumental in keeping crime rates in Kingston down. They were able to use
their influence and contacts to get contacted whenever a crime cell would set
up a base of operations here, and they would then turn that information over
to us for investigation. It was an extremely useful symbiotic relationship that
allowed us to crack down on exponentially more crime than we would have
otherwise. They will be missed," the Chief explained at a press conference.
However, according to the police and our own reporters, this does not
undermine the safety of Kingston, as this is petty crime, not infiltration by any
of the major crime syndicates: "All of the current criminal activity so far is
comfined to specific blocks, and the heads have nowhere near enough
influence to convince anyone else to join in their cause. The risks are just too
great for the low payoff that independent crime provides. Our detectives are
working to make sure this stays the status quo, but if any of you have any

Syndicates Case City, Crime Still at 5.5%
The rise in crime in August and September has finally leveled off, and the chief of
police officially reported that the Kingston crime rate is held constant at 5.5%, up
3.7% from last year. However, neighborhood watch organizations have reported
seeing shady individuals near high-crime areas, and our sources in the syndicates
in the area have reported that the syndicates have started to case Kingston,
possibly looking for areas that can be easily taken over. This coincides with the
recent increase in the organization of the local criminals: they are moving from
petty theft to more dangerous and complicated crimes. As always, the Gazette
will be on the cutting edge of the story and brink you news as it occurs either

A Guide to Syndicates in the Greater Kingston Area
In order to get the public more informed about the syndicates so they can be
more proactive in preventing their entrance to the city, here are the seven
most common syndicates in the area surrounding Kingston:


No Such Agency
The NSA doesnít exist, at least to anyone that isnít a member. Itís hard to
believe that the same agency that decided to kill a dictator using LSD and
itching powder is also ruthlessly efficient and well-funded, though insane.

The Russian Mafiya
Old-fashioned yet ruthless, the Russian Mafiya doesnít care for any of the
modern gadgets; they do their business the same way the KGB and army
have for years, utilizing stealth, power and politics to succeed.

The Godmother
Why does every organized syndicate need to be run by a godfather? The
Godmother wonít grant your wishes, but they will do your ďdirty laundryĒ.
Just because theyíre female, donít think they canít be brutal and harsh.

Super Mafia Bros.
Tired of continually getting beaten up by King Bowser, they decided to stop
saving Princess Peach and took up a life of crime instead, and now, as the
Super Mafia Bros., theyíre rolling in coin and control the kingdom.

Supervillains
Realizing that they would never win where superheroes exist, they decided
to move into the real world to continue practicing their dastardly deeds.
However, they still seem to monologue at the worst moments.

Overkill
Nuke first. Ask questions later. Thatís what members of the Overkill
syndicate believe. True, it sometimes causes some rather nasty cases of
mistaken identity, but itís just so much fun, and profitable as well!

Tux Militia
Taking the open source movement to new heights, this LUG decided that
careful comparisons of the pros and cons werenít working, so they took up
weapons and are now fighting for liberty, justice and free software for all.
