Default Health issue

I have a pygmy accountant with AI Bouapha and I gave him 128 max life but the health bar doesn't work right.
It seems like he gets hurt down to the Pygmy accountant's max life then the health bar begins to go down, very very quickly.

This is a problem because it gives a false sense of invincibility... Until you suddenly die.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

All I can think of is to make sure the Effect setting its max Life is working properly (is it targeting the correct monster, does it really set max life and not current life?). I just tested this and it works fine for me.

You have to set max and current life to 128, If you only set max, the bar will show the players max health but only contain the pygmy's life, where if you only set current the bar will remain full until the players life gets below that of the standard pygmy's life. Both are bad, you have to set them together

Not if you only want them to have the Pygmy Accountants normal health... Unless if that actually wrecks it, I don't see how it would but...

Ah, then you would set both to 30? or whatever it is... It doesn't matter, it should work with any whole number

I think my problem is some stray special that does something to throw it off. Or maybe this just doesn't work:
Anyway, here's the special, maybe it has something wrong that I have overlooked:


If: 0 Pygmy accountant

Summon PA at X,Y
Change PA AI to Bouapha AI
Set MAX life of PA at anywhere to 128
Change PA at anywhere to good

Keep in mind that triggers are done from top to bottom, so if what Ninja says is correct and you have to set Max life first before setting Current life, your Special's trigger list should be:

Summon PA at X,Y
Change PA at anywhere to good
Change PA AI to Bouapha AI
Set Max life of PA at Anywhere to 128
Set Current life of PA at Anywhere to 128

Setting Max life must come before setting Current life. This will update the Life Bar first to reflect a maximum of 128 hitpoints. Then, setting Current life heals you to 128 hitpoints. You won't see any visible changes on the bar because your Pygmy remained at 100% health throughout.

It doesn't matter at all if you set Max Life or Current Life first; a monster can have more HP than its "Max Life" (heck, before there was a Max Life effect, the way to make monsters have more HP was to make their HP exceed the limit of their health bar). Setting Max Life afterwards will still correct the life bar issue. (And besides, .Blue Dwarf. isn't even setting Current Life at all in that special.)

This still makes it sound like it's setting the Current Life without setting the Max Life. The Special you posted, however, looks correct, so the problem must indeed be with some other "stray special" as you call it :\

EDIT: Tested the exact special .Blue Dwarf. posted, works perfectly.

Well, I could have guessed that it worked perfectly. The special at the start of the level does the same thing and it works fine, but later when the special pops up again it doesn't quite work right...
(It's in there twice because the PA does die, but then comes back)

So, now I search for the stray special I guess. Thanks for the help confirming that my special works fine.

But it doesn't have to be at full life, it just has to show the health bar correctly.
I don't care if he has one life or 128 life, just as long as the health bar displays it properly.

Ohhhhhh, OK. I get it, You want the life to display the max of 128 but only the PA's current life (30?) Ok. But what happens if you were to get healed by like a pizza though?

Mind explaining a bit more about that (how do you make him die, etc.)? The error might also be somewhere in there if the special works perfectly at the beginning but not when the Pygmy Accountant comes back. Anything involving player controlled monsters is always a little bit risky.

Yes, but if he wanted the player to be able to be healed past the PA's original health or have a max of 25 is important.
