Anyone here going to get this game? Being a Defense of the Ancients "veteran" (I've played it but I am horrible at it), I was skeptic as to its quality at first, but now it looks really cool to me. I'd really like to get a group of Hamumuians and other people together to play, so I can have human players to play this with.

Basically, the concept of it is the same as Defense of the Ancients, gameplay-wise; you pick a hero to command and you must lead an army through three towers and into the enemy base, while leveling your abilities and acquiring legendary items. However, it's taken out a couple limitations caused by the Warcraft III engine and added in that whole Summoner thing you can see on the website. It's going to be really neat, and the best part is, it is completely free. The only things you get from buying it are extra skins, a few extra spells, all the Champions are automatically unlocked, etc., but the free version has all the online features, all the Champions (although you have to unlock 20 of them), all the other spells, all that stuff.

I'm really thrilled about this. MM, who dislikes DotA due to the fact that we have nobody to play it with and the WC3 engine limitations frustrated him, is even excited about it.

I played the beta of Heroes Of Newerth which is exactly the same idea. I think it seemed like a pretty good game, but completely ruined by the presence of human beings. Like joining a game marked "Noobs only" (an official designation you can set on games!), and being yelled at for not knowing what to do as they spam out all these incomprehensible acronyms. It's a real right-in-the-deep-end situation.

I played a few times and eventually just decided it wasn't for me, which is sad since it had nothing to do with the gameplay (which seemed pretty fun, except the buying-stuff aspect seemed massively unnecessary), it was the people. Not just rudeness and stuff, though, it was also the fact that you are stuck competing against uber-pros, so it is more frustrating than fun. These people have been playing DOTA for years and years!

I'm sure it's exactly like that for anybody who tries an FPS for the first time... I feel bad for them, because those I can play!

Heroes of Newerth is based directly off of Defense of the Ancients: Allstars, a mod for WC3. It changed the graphics and a few heroes, but copied most heroes and items down to exact statistics. LoL (I like the acronym ) is based off the basic DotA formula, but with major differences. And LoL is free. Also, for LoL, if we get a Hamumu Clan of sorts together, we can play solely with Hamumuians.

I went into chat last night and everyone in there (Kerma and Blackduck) hated DotA (Kerma because it spams up the Warcraft 3 custom games server and Blackduck due to the fact that a large portion of DotA players are stuck-up elitist snobs). We currently have 4 people. C'mon! The game is at its best when there's 10 people! Recruit friends from non-Hamumu sources! And don't be afraid to try it, either. It's free, what do you have to lose?

Well, I got 1 match off tonight. Didn't go too badly, only 1 elitist noob flamer out of 10 people. I'm still getting used to the new interface. I also felt that the spell graphics could stand out some more. Otherwise, I think it would be fun to get a group of friends together and play this.

After trying 3 champions (Anivia, Sion, and Cho'Gath), Cho'Gath is the best.

Also, Kerma, you aren't doing anything you'll regret . Unless you don't like long downloads...

I Play as Reiz (purple guy with big scroll): his level 2 finisher (level 6 spell) can kill any non-tankers under level 20 in one hit.

What would step 3 be again? If it's entering the beta key, make sure you didn't enter an I as a 1 or vise versa, that's my usual problem. If not, get another key, there's plenty to go around.

No, I cant get past set 2, thats where you enter most of the information, like password, user name, and email. The beta key is before registering.
