zero divided by zero.
some of you may say that it is undefined. but i say that anything and everything is the correct answer. zero can go into zero five times. lets count, 0+0+0+0+0 = 0 how about -3 times? -0-0-0 = 0 you know what this means right? if i want 0 / 0 to be equal to pizza it will be! mmm...tasty~ have a try! i guarantee you will or won't be disappointed. also, this statement is false. |

That would, in fact, be the definition of undefined...

Umm, that doesn't actually work, you can't have two different equations and combine the sides like that.

1^2=1
2*1=2 as such, the statement 2*1=1^2 is not true. and all the As and Bs were probably there just to make it look confusing. and when you said "Also, if this is true then 1=2" 0/0 = everything has little or nothing to do with the puny statement 1=2 0/0 = everything is on a much grander scale. the biggest reason being that it isn't constrained to any single number like your 1=2. Not even y=(x+1)/1*x can compare. |

1*0=0 2*0=0 1*0=2*0 divide equations by 0 to cancel *0 1=2 Also, all that that does is start at two and exponentially decrease, eventually approaching 1. As such, It is easier to show it as y=-2^x+1 if I'm not mistaken.

y=sin(x)/x is continous at x=0, even though it isn't defined there.

In this thread: People abuse Maths and think they are smart.
Incidently Megadog's proof is error. Between: 1*0 = 2*0 and "1=2" He forgot (1*0)/0 = (2*0)/0, which what you are doing. Ergo, the equation becomes undefinded. Furthermore, any non-zero value, when divided by zero, becomes infinity. A funny result of this is that travelling at light speed would cause infinite time dilation. Which I think would stop the resulting infinite mass and therefore gravity from destroying everything. Last edited by hyperme; 09-27-2011 at 10:42 AM. |

More importantly, the energy content of the universe is finite, so infinite gravity is impossible.

Abusing maths is not OK, it really hurts it. I've seen math covered in bruises from being abused too much.
