I'm not very on-track with these things, am I? I'm just gonna ramble about general stuff. Here goes!
Here's what I've most recently been poking at in Broken Build Simulator. It's... sort of an ice cream man simulator? In a vague way. Yeah, there are crabs. I just realized this shot doesn't include any children. Oh well. Kids run up to your ice cream van and buy ice cream. Enemies can't hurt them, but they can* (well, not implemented yet) scare them away, potentially reducing your income, so it's a defense situation, but you don't have to keep anybody but yourself alive.
In other news, it being October, I've been reviewing scary movies! You probably didn't notice, because I have been doing it in deepest secrecy, by doing it on my
BlueSky account. That means very very short reviews! I'm also following the Haunted Hippie's 2026 October Watchlist Challenge, which is pushing me out of my comfort zone pretty effectively. My first full length silent film, and my first Goosebumps episode! Anyway, check it out, it won't take long! I've of course been enjoying watching and whining about a movie a day. I love it.
I've also been checking out some new games, or new to me anyway.
- Minecraft Dungeons: seems fun but the levels are WAY too long. If they were 5-10min each, I would dive back in but I likely won't play it again because it's just tiresome.
- Strange Jigsaws: Awesome, fantastic, quick and easy, the game I would make if I was smart. The author also released 20 More Somehow Even Smaller Mazes recently, which is free and also awesome, so why not play it? Very similar style.
- Dragonkin The Banished: Ummm... Seems like it should be really interesting but it's not catching my attention. Haven't been back since my second session. Just feels like too much work somehow. I want to like it.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: Was awesome. I am very tempted to get the DLC which is really something for me!
- Firewatch: Wanted to try this for years, now I have, and have no desire to continue trying. It's just so so clunky when it should be smooth and easy.
- Grim Dawn: Not remotely new to me, but I came back with the new DLC. This is definitely one of the top 3 ARPGs, highly recommended. It is much much too long, I end up losing interest before I reach the endgame, but it's very appealing to the point I play to. I should clarify that the reason I have trouble with long ARPGs is that every time I find an item that would be good for some build other than the one I'm playing, I immediately have to start a new character. So I don't go far into the game, but I go very very wide. Literally dozens of characters in Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, and others.
- Titan Quest II: Also pretty fun, I'd put it above Dragonkin, but I keep trying it with each new thing they add, and then lose interest fairly quickly. It kind of feels like I'm playing in quicksand, in terms of the overall progression. The maps are just too big (like Grim Dawn, but without as compelling of a progression), the leveling is pretty slow, and the gear is just not very interesting at all, as far as I've found (not sure I've found any unique items).
- Terra Nil: I've been enjoying this, I get really sucked in, but it's a little too clunky and complex for what it's trying to do. It's just not the simple puzzle it wants to be, so you kind of breeze along, and then get caught up on a sharp edge of having to manage the resources or slightly enlarge a forest which has no room around it to enlarge, which means having to set fire to something else. Just a little more tedious than it should be, but an interesting challenge.
- Far Cry 6: Did not hook me at first, but I came back a few times and gradually got sucked in with the usual Ubisoft checklist of bases to capture and treasures to collect. I seem to be unsucked in now, as I have dropped it to focus all-in on...
- Hell Is Us: I'm really really enjoying this. It's similar to Sleepless Hollow, in that it's an action game on the surface, but the real meat of it is an endless string of weird interlocking puzzles. The action is simple, which is fine because I have a full page of handwritten notes on the puzzles I need to solve. I really enjoy that formula and it's given me lots of thoughts on a new Adventure Of Bouapha. But I can't drop this game until I finish it completely because you have to not forget all the many many little bits of info for all the puzzles. That's kind of rough, but worth it. It's the kind of friction games had in the 90's that has been sanded off in the years since, and it shouldn't have been. It's what invests you in the game.
- Elden Ring: Not new to me at all, I had about 60 hours in it before recently returning to it (inspired by Ezeekat's cozy gamer playthrough on youtube, which is very entertaining!). I am realizing just how very unfar I got in my 60 hours. Turns out it's like 1/3 of the game, which is crazy. I started over of course, and have been enjoying that, but not gotten too far into it. Turns out I am still good at killing Margit, which is nice since the first time I met him years ago, I died 20+ times.
- Last Epoch: Another not-new game, I have 800 hours played (and if you know the game, you would be horrified to know that I have never gone past Corruption 0. But I most likely have started close to 100 characters)! Came back to it with the latest patch to enjoy the new skills and of course ended up building new characters to match every item that dropped as usual. This is my favorite ARPG, and it's still awesome.
Yeah, so lots of gaming. Lots of slow progress on BBS (Some new songs recorded!). Haven't touched Titan Tunnels in a while, as BBS is supposed to be finished "this year". Yikes. And lots of life and whatnot, which is always intruding.
